Top groups were defined as the top 10 for each lead index and the top 5 for each secondary index, with rank derived by sorting each list’s published NVI in descending order (CRV does not print an explicit rank column). Bulls were matched between the April and August runs by their unique CRV bull number (Stiernummer), not by display name, per our standard matching protocol. Where a bull’s April run rank could be independently verified within our extracted data range, both absolute values and dates are shown; where it could not, the “previous NVI” figure was derived from CRV’s own reported +/- change column (current NVI minus that change) rather than guessed — this method produced internally consistent results against our independently verified cases, but the underlying CRV change column appears in some cases to track a bull’s NVI across evaluation categories (e.g., a prior genomic-list value) rather than strictly against its prior appearance in the same specific list; that nuance is flagged inline wherever it applies (Koepon Sirius P, Dg Dr. No). Bulls with a reported “n” flag and no computable prior value are labeled “new to the evaluation” or “new to top 10” and were not assigned an invented previous figure.
The reliability gap between zero-daughter genomic proofs and daughter-proven evaluations documented throughout this piece is not a Netherlands-specific quirk. Peer-reviewed work on North American Holstein genomic prediction found combined genomic reliabilities for young bulls averaging roughly 50%, versus 27% for parent averages alone in the pre-genotyping comparison — a substantial but still partial gain that leaves genomic-only proofs more prone to re-ranking than daughter-proven ones (VanRaden, P.M., et al., “Invited Review: Reliability of Genomic Predictions for North American Holstein Bulls,” Journal of Dairy Science 92(1):16–24, 2009, doi:10.3168/jds.2008-1514). One pedigree correction: CRV’s own PDF truncates Clear-Echo Rix Rimbot’s sire field at a fixed column width, printing it as “Denovo 2981 She…” The full registered name — Denovo 2981 Sheldon (NAAB code 029HO19194) — was confirmed against the official NAAB-CSS genomic bull database rather than guessed.
Genomic/proven status is explicit in this dataset, not inferred — each source file states its own daughter-eligibility category, and every proven-list bull carries an explicit daughter count (dtrs) and reliability percentage. No breed’s rankings were compared numerically against the other breed’s, and no NL figure was compared against another country’s national index (TPI, LPI, PLI, RZG, etc.) — all comparisons here stay within the Netherlands’ own NVI system. Lower-reliability bulls, particularly first-appearance Interbull-converted entrants (e.g., Peak Altasamson at 65% reliability), can and likely will re-rank again at the next run; treat all figures here as of the August 2026 publication date only.
