The Blondin-Lookout-Crackholm Sale realized a outstanding average of $9775 (unofficial) on 127 lots when it was held on May 20th at Ferme Blondin, Saint-Placide, Que. The sale featured three of North America’s top herds– Ferme Blondin,  Lookout Holsteins and Crackholm Holsteins.

Topping the sale at $130,000 was Petitclerc Sid Snowflake (VG-86-2y), the hottest JR 2 year old in North America.  Sired by “Sid” from the Spooky family, Snowflake was first junior 2-year-old and intermediate champion at Quebec Spring Show and the National Spring Showcase in April. She was purchased by MilkSource Genetics LLC, Kaukauna, Wis., from consignors Ferme Blondin, Pierre Boulet, Montmagny, Que., and Ferme Fortale Holstein Inc., Saint-Christophe-d’Arthabaska, Que. Fresh since early March, she is from a Very Good “Goldwyn” dam, followed by a Very Good-88, 4-Star “Jasper” and then the noted “Triumphant” brood cow,  Brabantdale Triumphant Spooky (Ex-2E-54*).

Second high seller at $75,000 to MilkSource Genetics was Ploegsway Goldwyn Nuts Is U (VG-88), a “Goldwyn” who was second senior 2-year-old at Quebec Spring Show this year. Consigned by Ferme Blondin and Ferme Yvon Sicard, Saint-Justin, Que., this eighth generation Very Good or Excellent is projected to 10,443 kg milk, 3.9% fat, 3.5% protein (252-267-276) and is from an Excellent-94-2E show winning “Talent” dam.

Third highest seller of the day was Ms Licorice GC Lovely-ET (VG-87), a 2-year-old “Gold Chip” daughter of Rockymountain Talent Licorice (Ex-95-USA-2*).  She sold for $41,000. Projected to 10,371 kg milk, 4.5% fat, 3.3% protein (244-317-261), she was consigned by Ferme Blondin, Crasdale Farms, Hunter River, P.E.I., Jeff Butler, Chebanse, Ill., and Frank & Diane Borba, Modesto, Calif and was purchased by Pierre Boulet, Fortale and Sicy Holsteins. Her dam, Licorice, is the two-time All-Canadian and once All-American by “Talent” who completes 11 generations of Very Good or Excellent in the Ravenswell Lydia (Ex-92-USA-19*) family.

Fourth highest seller of the day at $36,000 was Lot 12 Milksource Dty Kandy-Red. She is a VG86 Destry Senior 3 Year Old from an EX94 Jordan, and was consigned by Lookout Holsteins, Crackholm Holsteins and Frank & Diane Borba, Kandy was the purchase of Westcoast Holsteins, BC.

Rounding out the top five high sellers at $31,000 was Mischief Drumlee Denison. Mischief is an EX95-2E Jerland Denison daughter from an EX92-2E Talent. She was consigned by Ferme Blondin, Tommy Araki and Butz-Hill Holsteins. Siemers Holsteins, WI were the final bidder.
