Agroleite 2026: De Boer Family Sweeps the Big Sashes as Castro Delivers Brazil’s Show of the Year

When Aaron Eaton stepped to the microphone at Arena Agroleite on the evening of August 7, he did something judges don’t always do. Before he said a word about a single cow, he asked the crowd to applaud itself.

“He would like to recognize and thank each one of you watching for the hospitality with which he was received here in Brazil,” the ring translator relayed. Eaton told the arena that when he travels to judge in other countries, the reception, the organization of a fair like this one, and the quality of the cattle are what make the trip worth it. 

Honestly, he wasn’t just being polite. Agroleite has quietly become the show that Brazilian breeders build their whole year around — and the entry list proved it.

The Atmosphere

Arena Agroleite ran a full Holstein program across two days: 10 young-cattle classes judged August 6, then the milking classes and championships on August 7. Beyond the standard age classes, the show carried Best Udder and Dairy Merit awards in every milking division, plus Progeny of Dam, Dairy Herd, Family Group, and a National Young Female Group — the kind of full-card program that rewards depth instead of one hot cow.

The crowd stayed for all of it. Eaton’s junior championship reasons opened with a line that stuck: there were five animals in that ring that “can compete anywhere.” 

Grand Champion: BUR JR. COCKPIT ANGELICA 4461

The five-year-old winner never gave up the sash. BUR JR. COCKPIT ANGELICA 4461, exhibited by Hendrik and Reinaldo de Boer of Castro, took the Five-Year-Old class, Best Udder in that class, and then Grand Champion. ACK TAQUARAL SAFIRA 536 (Albert Cristiaan Kok, Arapoti) was Reserve, and KLAAS AALTJE 2819 (Charles Hendrik Salomons) stood third. 

Eaton’s reasons for the reserve tell you what he was looking at: “When you have an 11-year-old cow that’s had seven or eight calves and still looks like this…” Safira 536 didn’t just win the lifetime production championship — she swept its Best Udder and Dairy Merit too, and then beat every mature cow in the barn except one. 

For the De Boers, this was a saved bullet. “It’s a cow we didn’t bring to any shows this year. We saved her to be exhibited at Agroleite, which is our focus, because it’s the most significant show,” Ronald de Boer said afterward, adding that the family farm has been in operation since 1951. “Winning a title today represents the result of decades.” 

Intermediate Champion: The Same One-Two, Twice

BUR JR. SUPERNATURAL WILHELMINA won the Senior Three-Year-Old class, its Best Udder, and then Intermediate Champion — with FINI PIMBALL MAAIKE 22710 (Agropecuária Fini) behind her both times, and ARM JOYA HAPPEN 1429 (Armando Rabbers) third.

Frank de Boer, on the young cow title: “It’s a cow we’ve been working with for a long time… it’s hard to put into words, it’s very emotional. It’s the pinnacle of what we expect from a cow at the show.” He thanked the fitters, the kids, and the farm team first.

Junior Champion: C.R.A. ANEESH MAAIKE 3234 FIV

Robert Salomons’ C.R.A. ANEESH MAAIKE 3234 FIV went from winning the Bezerra Menor class to Junior Champion of the show. FINI DRPERFECT MAAIKE 25106 TE (Agropecuária Fini) was Reserve Junior Champion and KLAAS AALTJE 3730

What to Watch Next

Angelica 4461 is five, and Eaton picked her over an 11-year-old with eight calves behind her — she should be back. The bigger question is the junior end. Robert Salomons and Agropecuária Salomons combined for 3,956 exhibitor points in the young-cattle ring against Fini’s 1,234, and those Nely and Aaltje heifers hit the milking classes over the next two seasons. If Castro’s calf pens hold, the De Boer–Fini–Salomons three-way at the top of this show is going to get tighter, not looser.
