In Class III trade at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, milk futures were lower, following the recent trend and expecting big domestic production this year. October was down $.05 at $15.16, November was $.19 lower at $15.44, December was down $.13 at $15.37, and January was $.08 lower at $15.30.
Cash cheese blocks were unchanged at $1.5325. Barrels were down $.0225 at $1.4875. There were six trades reported, including two at $1.4875. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $1.51.
Butter was $.0075 lower at $1.89. There were two trades, one at $1.895 and one at $1.8925. The last uncovered offer was for one load at $1.89.
Nonfat dry milk was up $.0025 at $.93 with one load sold at that price. There was one unfilled bid and one uncovered offer, both at $.93.
For October and November, California’s Department of Food and Agriculture has the Class II milk price for Northern California at the equivalent of $14.21 per hundredweight with Southern California at $14.45. Class III statewide is set at $14.16. In September, the Class IV A statewide price was $13.58 with Class IV B at $15.24.
