For two mornings, the Jersey breed takes over the colored shavings. The International Jersey Show opens Monday with the heifers and wraps up Tuesday with the cows, groups, and the Grand Champion selection. The man making the final call has done it here before.

Meet the Official Judge: Mike Berry
Mike Berry returns to the International Jersey Show, which he also judged in 2017. He lives in Powell Butte, Oregon, with his wife Kristin and daughter Morgan. He started out as a professional fitter and is now a partner in Robinhood Cattle Company, which develops Jersey, Holstein, and Brown Swiss cattle.
Over his career, Mike has bred and developed numerous All-American animals across several breeds. He has judged some of the biggest Jersey shows in North America, including the Junior and Open All-American Jersey Shows, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, and the National Jersey Jug Futurity. He has also judged the British Columbia Spring Holstein Show and the Wisconsin Championship Holstein Show, so he brings a cross-breed eye to the ring.
Meet the Associate Judge: Ryan Lancaster
Ryan Lancaster lives and breathes Jerseys. He and his wife Freynie, with their children Logan, Tatum, Harper, and Bode, run Royalty Ridge in Tillamook, Oregon. The milking herd classifies at a 91.7 average. The Ohio State University graduate’s program has bred 34 EX-95 cows and one EX-97, and it includes cows such as EX-97 Pleasant Nook F Prize Circus and EX-95 FLM Tradition Flower.
Royalty Ridge has won Champion Bred & Owned at the All-American Jersey Show five times. The Lancasters were also the first Jersey breeders to have four consecutive generations classify EX-95, and they have a long record of success at World Dairy Expo and national shows.
