Breed Association Awards Bestowed to Select Sires

Following the August 2015 sire summary, several Select sires were awarded honors from Holstein Association USA and Holstein Canada for their outstanding daughter-proven results.

Gold Medal Sire honors were bestowed to active lineup sires, 7HO11169 Welcome Super PETRONE-ET (GM), 7HO11207 Roylane Boxer PUNCH 4311-ET (EX-92-GM), 7HO11279 De-Su Dorcy MOONBOY 954-ET (GM), 7HO11351 Seagull-Bay SUPERSIRE-ET (VG-87-GM), 7HO11419 Seagull-Bay HEADLINER-ET (VG-85-GM) and 7HO11477 De-Su Bkm MCCUTCHEN 1174-ET (EX-92-GM) by Holstein Association USA in recognition of their officially tested and classified offspring’s superior type and production.

To qualify for this honor bulls must meet a specified type level for Total Performance Index® (TPI®), have a minimum Reliability of 90 percent for their Fat and Type genetic evaluations and be free of all recognized genetic defects. This award is only given to about 25 Holstein sires each year, putting these sires in elite company.

7HO11283 De-Su D MAYFIELD 893-ET (EX-90) was recognized with a Superior Type award from Holstein Canada while 7HO10879 De-Su PHOENIX 588-ET (VG-86) received a Superior Production honor. Superior Type is awarded to sires that rank in the top 5 percent of sires with Canadian proofs for Conformation, Mammary System, Feet and Legs, Dairy Strength and Rump and have a Conformation Reliability of at least 87 percent. Sires that rank in the top 5 percent of sires with Canadian proofs for Fat and Protein and have a Production Reliability of more than 91 percent qualify for the Superior Production honor.

Class Extra status was awarded to 250HO1009 Mapel Wood BREWMASTER (EX-95) and 7HO11314 Mountfield SSI Dcy MOGUL-ET (GM) who simultaneously qualify for Superior Type and Superior Production awards.
