GOULDHAVEN ALLIGATOR EZROYAL is Grand Champion of Le Suprême Laitier 2026, exhibited by JM Valley Holstein, London Dairy Farms and Pat Conroy of Amqui. She won the Female 5-Year-Old class, took Best Udder in it, and Fortier settled the championship on udder freshness — more bloom and more veining than the cow standing beside her.
Reserve went to PIERSTEIN DEMPSEY LEXI (Butlerview Farm & Pierre Boulet, Chebanse, IL), who took Mature Cow, Best Udder in that class, and the Bred & Owned Grand Championship. Honourable Mention was AROLENE DEMPSEY ELLA (Alyson Doiron, Cap-Santé), second in the 5-Year-Old class.
The pedigree detail worth noting: two of the three finalists are Dempsey daughters. Lexi and Ella both trace to that sire, while Ezroyal is by Stantons Alligator.
Fortier Judged Udders First, Start to Finish
This is the structural story of the show, and the sheets prove it rather than merely suggest it.
Across the eleven milking classes, Fortier awarded Best Udder to the class winner every single time — Sincerly, Brazil, Atlas, Camy, Beat It, Salana, Adriene, Alibi Lambda, Ezroyal, Lexi, Rayban. Not one split decision. That is unusual, and it stands in direct contrast to a show like Agroleite 2026, where the judge moved udder awards away from his class winners in five of nine adult divisions .
The pattern then carried into the championships:
- All three Intermediate Championship finalists arrived carrying Best Udder — Camy (Winter 2-Year-Old), Salana (Junior 3-Year-Old), Sincerly (Milking Senior Yearling).
- Both top Grand Championship finalists carried Best Udder.
- The final call itself came down to bloom and veining, not frame or stature.
His class reasons matched. In Senior 3-Year-Old he specified a fore udder attachment on the left side; in Junior 3-Year-Old, on the right side. Fortier was reading attachments quarter by quarter, which is the level of detail the PDCA scorecard’s 40 percent udder weighting is designed to reward . In the heifer divisions, where udders aren’t scored at all, he moved to the traits that carry the weight there — dairy strength at 40 percent and rear feet and legs at 35 percent — repeatedly splitting pairs on rear-leg mobility and rib width.
Premier Awards and the Sire Story
| Award | 1st | 2nd | 3rd |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premier Breeder | Ferme Jacobs (JACOBS) | Pierre Boulet (PIERSTEIN) | Ferme J-P Petitclerc et Fils (PETITCLERC) |
| Premier Exhibitor | Blondin Sires / Ferme Blondin | Ferme Jacobs | Pierre Boulet |
| Premier Sire | Farnear Delta-Lambda-ET | Croteau Lesperron Unix | Stantons Alligator-ET |
| Junior Breeder | JM Valley Holstein | Ferme J-P Petitclerc et Fils | Ferme Cerpolait |
| Junior Exhibitor | Ferme J-P Petitclerc et Fils | Blondin Sires / Ferme Blondin | Ferme Vert d’Or |
| Junior Premier Sire | Hamming Salute | Farnear Delta-Lambda-ET | Robella Major |
Delta-Lambda swept both Premier Sire titles’ top tier — first in the adult ring, second among the juniors. His footprint in the placings is heavy: Bonaccueil Alibi Lambda winning the 4-Year-Old with Best Udder, Deslacs Lambda Pimpy second and Sicy Lambda Ange third in Junior 3-Year-Old, Pierstein Lambda Mickey second in Senior 3-Year-Old, plus Blondin Lambda Sensation fifth in the 4-Year-Old and Lambda daughters scattered through the heifer classes. This is the same bull who was Premier Sire of the International Holstein Show at World Dairy Expo 2024 — a Mogul Delta son out of a Numero Uno dam from the Lila Z family.espacesainthyacinthe+1
Unix ran second on the strength of the mature end: Sicy Unix Adriene winning Senior 3-Year-Old with Best Udder and a bred-and-owned banner, Jacobs Unix Britain third in the same class, then Jacobs Unix Carful fourth and Jacobs Unix Laddies seventh in the 5-Year-Old.
Alligator placed third and delivered the biggest single prize — the Grand Champion.
On the junior side, Hamming Salute taking Junior Premier Sire signals where the next show string is coming from: Vertdor Salute Classor won Intermediate Yearling as a bred-and-owned, and Salute daughters filled Grandpointe Salute Amazing, Jolipre Salute Amaya, Duhibou Salute Ranca and Reta. Triton and Triton PP were everywhere in the youngest classes — third in Winter Heifer, plus multiple Monten entries — which is the polled story to watch in 2027.
Herd Performance: Jacobs Breeds, Blondin Exhibits
The split between Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor is the most revealing line on the sheet. Ferme Jacobs won Premier Breeder but placed second as exhibitor. Blondin won Premier Exhibitor but doesn’t appear in the top three for breeder. Two different business models, both working.
Jacobs’ breeding credit came from animals scattered across other people’s strings: Jacobs Unix Britain (Ferme Gillette / T-Wave, Embrun, ON), Milk&Honey Im A Sexy Baby (Elmvue Farm, Johnstown, NY), Jacobs Tatoo Branelle (Hy-Haven), Jacobs Sidekick Bee (Hy-Haven). Their own banner was the Intermediate Championship with Axel Havenofear Camy.
Blondin’s win came from volume in the ring — five head in Spring Junior 2-Year-Old alone, plus Bruview Fuel Rowan second in Winter 2-Year-Old, Hill View Randall Praline second in Senior 2-Year-Old, and Charbend Detective Beatrice second in Summer Yearling. A remarkable number of Blondin seconds without a class win in the milking ring.
Pierre Boulet was third in both categories, the only exhibitor to manage that, with Lexi’s Mature Cow win and reserve grand plus placings in five other classes.
Bred-and-Owned Ran Deep
Seven class wins went to bred-and-owned animals, which is a genuinely strong showing at a provincial final:
- Petitclerc Airdrop Samantha — Spring Heifer
- Beritin Rio Destination — Winter Heifer
- Axel Lemagic Laya — Fall Heifer
- JM Valley Bullseye Leslie — Junior Yearling, Junior Champion and Junior Supreme Champion
- Vertdor Salute Classor — Intermediate Yearling, Junior HM
- Belfast Alligator Beat It — Senior 2-Year-Old, Best Udder, Intermediate B&O Champion
- Sicy Unix Adriene — Senior 3-Year-Old, Best Udder
- Bonaccueil Alibi Lambda — 4-Year-Old, Best Udder
- Pierstein Dempsey Lexi — Mature Cow, Grand B&O Champion
Belfast Holstein Enr. deserves specific mention. A comparatively small operation from St-Patrice-de-Beaurivage, they won Senior 2-Year-Old bred-and-owned with Best Udder and the Intermediate B&O banner, took third in Winter 2-Year-Old with another homebred, and co-own the Junior 3-Year-Old runner-up. Three top-three finishes in the two-year-old and three-year-old rings against the Jacobs and Blondin strings.
Class Depth Was Uneven
| Division | Head |
|---|---|
| Spring Heifer | 30 |
| Fall Heifer | 25 |
| Winter Heifer | 24 |
| Spring Junior 2-Year-Old | 17 |
| Summer Yearling | 16 |
| Summer Junior 2-Year-Old | 15 |
| Winter 2-Year-Old | 14 |
| Junior Yearling | 14 |
| Senior 3-Year-Old | 14 |
| Junior 3-Year-Old | 13 |
| 4-Year-Old | 13 |
| 5-Year-Old | 13 |
| Mature Cow | 10 |
| Milking Senior Yearling | 9 |
| Intermediate Yearling | 8 |
| Senior 2-Year-Old | 8 |
| Lifetime Production 70,000 kg+ | 1 |
The calf end is full — 79 head in the three heifer classes alone. The mature end thins out to 10 in Mature Cow, 8 in Senior 2-Year-Old and a single entry in the Lifetime Production class, won by Mactalla Sidekick Rayban (Crackholm Holsteins) on more than 70,000 kg from only five lactations.
Key Takeaways
- Fortier gave Best Udder to the class winner in all eleven milking classes — a perfect correlation, and the clearest signal of judging philosophy on the sheets.
- Delta-Lambda is the sire of the show, Premier Sire in the adult ring and second among juniors, with class wins and runners-up across three age divisions.
- The Grand Champion podium was two-thirds Dempsey, an under-discussed sire suddenly holding reserve and honourable mention at a provincial final.
- Breeding and showing have decoupled. Jacobs won Premier Breeder placing animals in other herds; Blondin won Premier Exhibitor on ring volume without a milking class win.
- Two U.S.-linked strings won classes — T&L Cattle / Ty-D Holsteins (Mexia, TX) in Spring Junior 2-Year-Old with Best Udder, and Butlerview Farm (Chebanse, IL) with Boulet on Mature Cow and reserve grand.
- Bred-and-owned took nine banners, including Junior Supreme with JM Valley Bullseye Leslie and both B&O championships.
- Salute and Triton PP dominate the youngest classes, pointing to a polled-influenced junior ring in 2027.
Looking Ahead
Ezroyal’s next stage. A five-year-old who wins on bloom and veining is a cow with campaign life left. The JM Valley / London Dairy / Conroy partnership already holds Junior Supreme with Leslie in the same barn — that’s a champion at both ends of the age range from one string.
Delta-Lambda’s daughters age up. His strength here was in the three- and four-year-old ring, meaning his best show daughters at Le Suprême are entering their prime, not leaving it. Watch for a mature-cow presence in 2027 and 2028.
The thin mature end. Ten head in Mature Cow and eight in Senior 2-Year-Old at a provincial final is a distribution worth watching. If the calf classes keep running 24 to 30 head while the mature ring sits at 10, the Grand Championship increasingly comes down to which four or five herds bring a mature cow.
Context beyond the ring. This edition ran under the shadow of Canada–U.S. trade negotiations and supply management concessions, a point producers raised repeatedly in the days before judging. That backdrop makes the two American-linked class wins in Saint-Hyacinthe read differently than they would in a normal year.
GRAND CHAMPION — Le Suprême Holstein Show 2026
Grand Championship · Judge: Dominic Fortier
Grand Champion
GOULDHAVEN ALLIGATOR EZROYAL — JM Valley Holstein, London Dairy Farms & Pat Conroy, Amqui (Best Udder)
Reserve Grand Champion
PIERSTEIN DEMPSEY LEXI — Butlerview Farm & Pierre Boulet, Chebanse, IL (Best Udder · Bred & Owned Champion)
Honourable Mention
AROLENE DEMPSEY ELLA — Alyson Doiron, Cap-Santé
Three cows, very close together — Fortier said so before he moved. Ezroyal takes the purple on more bloom to her udder and more udder veining, a five-year-old class winner who carried Best Udder all the way to the top . Lexi’s Mature Cow win and bred-and-owned banner put her reserve. Honourable mention went to Ella on rear-leg mobility over a well-balanced lineup. Two Dempsey daughters on a three-cow podium.
Intermediate Champion: AXEL HAVENOFEAR CAMY — Ferme Jacobs, Cap-Santé
Reserve Intermediate Champion: BLONDIN EYE CANDY SALANA — La Ferme Hudon & Fils, St-Anaclet
Honourable Mention: MS MILKSOURCE SINCERLY-ET — Charles Boulet, Montmagny
Three class winners, three Best Udder banners, and Fortier liked the whole lineup — similar cows, all with good udders and good feet and legs. Camy takes the purple on skeletal correctness and more strength over her topline, carrying her Winter Two-Year-Old win and Best Udder forward. Salana comes off the Junior Three-Year-Old class on width through her middle and openness of rib to earn reserve. Sincerly rounds it out on udder quality, adding honourable mention to her Milking Senior Yearling win.
Junior Champion
JM VALLEY BULLSEYE LESLIE (B&O) — Jean-Philippe Proulx, Jeff Butler & JM Valley Holstein, St-Placide
Reserve Junior Champion
ANCESTRALE ACTIONMAN SAVANA — Ferme Marican, Ste-Hénédine
Honourable Mention
VERTDOR SALUTE CLASSOR (B&O) — Ferme Vert d’Or, Ste-Hélène-de-Kamouraska
Two of the three came out of Fortier’s own class wins and stayed exactly where he left them. Leslie takes the purple off her Junior Yearling win — the cleanest, most refined heifer in the lineup, loaded with youth and temperament through every part. Savana comes forward from her Summer Yearling win on sheer power and width, while Classor’s Intermediate Yearling victory earns her the honourable mention on width through the middle and front end plus a correct set of rear legs. Bred-and-owned banners on two of three.
Heifer Spring
Born between March 1st, 2026 and May 31st, 2026
Fortier called it a deep class with a clear foundation at the top. Samantha wins on style and correctness — longer-fronted, cleaner over the topline, and the most dairy of the group on the move. Sunnie P brings more power and body, but gives up refinement through the head and neck. Mia takes third on ring presence and a strong set of legs; Cinnamon is the growthier heifer, though she’s a touch looser in her front end. Quanta rounds out the top five with balance, needing more strength through the rib to move up.

Winter heifer
Born between December 1st, 2025 and February 28th, 2026
Fortier called it exceptional youth and a close top pair, going with structure on his winner — the more correctly built, better-balanced heifer through her skeleton . Second over third came down to length: Renegade showed more length and dairyness today. Third over fourth was about the walk — Della moves more correctly on her rear legs, with more width through the front end and more strength over her topline. Fourth over fifth: Seniorita wins on width and openness of rib, over a long, tall heifer in fifth.

Fortier called this a class of exceptional youth with a tight top pair, giving the nod to Laya on skeletal correctness and balance. Second over third came down to length and dairyness — Miami stretched out more today. Third over fourth was decided on the walk: Delia handles her rear legs more correctly, with more width through the front end and more strength over her topline. Fourth over fifth went to Lynley on width and openness of rib, over a long, tall heifer in fifth.

Fortier called this an easy winner. Savana showed the most youth of the group with real temperament and power, more width through her middle and more strength over her topline. Second over third was close, but Beatrice wins on width and openness of rib. Third over fourth goes to Armour on length and the way she handles her rear legs, over a nicely balanced heifer in fourth. Fourth over fifth: Margot again on length and rear-leg mobility, with fifth conceding some power.

Fortier called Leslie an easy winner — loaded with youth and temperament, and the cleaner, more refined heifer through her frame. Second over third came down to width and openness of rib for Designer. Third over fourth was his closest call, and he switched it late: Samyra travels on better feet and legs and sets up more correctly behind when she stops. Fourth over fifth went to Lakers on cleanliness and refinement through the leg, over a strong-bodied heifer in fifth.

Fortier called it a class of good heifers with an easy winner. Classor showed more width through her middle and front end and traveled on a better set of rear legs, over a powerful heifer in second . Second over third came down to refinement — Skippy is the cleaner, more dairy heifer, especially through her legs, over a good-framed third. Third over fourth went to Saratoga on topline strength and length. Fourth over fifth: Survive on width through the middle and openness of rib.

Fortier praised the whole class for balance, dairyness and quality mammary systems — then went to work on udders. Sincerly wins on a higher, wider rear udder and a cleaner, more refined front end, taking Best Udder with her. Clara Bow’s rear udder and added length of frame put her second. Third over fourth again came back to rear udder height, with Labelle over a fresh-only-a-few-weeks fourth. Allgaud edges fifth on udder height and width.

Brazil wins on width through the middle and more openness of rib, plus more length, and takes Best Udder. Second over third came down to udder quality and cleanliness — Lila B is the more refined cow. Third over fourth: Aquila on width and length, though Fortier preferred the fore udder attachment in fourth. Fourth over fifth went on rear udder attachment, width and openness of rib.

Fortier called Camy an easy winner — a long, dairy cow with real temperament and an excellent mammary system, earning Best Udder alongside the class . Rowan takes second as the cleaner cow through the front end with a higher, wider rear udder. Third went to Lucy despite being fresh a long time: more udder veining and texture, and a better set of rear legs on the move. Tarmac earns fourth on width, openness of rib and rear udder height, while Marilee’s leg mobility and tighter udder attachment hold fifth .

Fortier noted a real mix of lactation stages here — some second-calf cows, some first — and still called it an easy win. Beat It is only a couple of weeks fresh with her second calf, yet showed the most udder quality and a higher, wider rear udder, taking Best Udder on a bred-and-owned banner . Second over third came down to fore udder attachment and better rear-leg movement for Praline, over a powerful third. Three over four was tight, settled on width and the way Brizar travels. Fourth over fifth: Bonbon on dairyness.

Fortier found two very similar udders at the top and gave it to Salana on body — more width through the middle, more openness through the fore rib, and a genuinely good mammary system that took Best Udder. Second over third came down to fore udder attachment, a wider rear udder, and the way Pimpy moves on her front end. Third over fourth again hinged on fore udder attachment, this time on the right side, plus more width across the rear udder for Ange over a balanced fourth.

Rayban walked in with more than 70,000 kg of lifetime production behind her on only five calves — and still showed real dairyness, plenty of temperament, and strength through every part. What he kept coming back to was the udder: an excellent mammary system for a cow this deep into her career, which is exactly what the production class is meant to reward. Longevity you can see from the rail, not just read on a sheet.
