Both judges in the middle of the ring for this year’s International Brown Swiss Show have been there before. RT Thompson returns to the official judge’s role he held in 2023. Hayden Hauschildt, his associate, served as associate judge in 2022. Both are Wisconsin Brown Swiss breeders, and both have spent their careers breeding cattle, not just judging them.

Meet the Official Judge: RT Thompson
RT Thompson owns and operates Random Luck Farm in Darlington, Wisconsin, a 130-head herd of Brown Swiss and Jerseys. The UW-Platteville graduate’s program has produced more than 150 All-American and Junior All-American nominations and more than 200 Excellent cows. It has earned Premier Breeder honors at the Wisconsin State Fair and at multiple national shows.
RT is a past president of the Wisconsin Brown Swiss Association and has served three terms on World Dairy Expo’s Dairy Cattle Exhibitor Committee. Along with the 2023 International Brown Swiss Show, he has judged the All-American Dairy Show, the Minnesota State Fair, and the Southwest National Brown Swiss Show.
Meet the Associate Judge: Hayden Hauschildt
Hayden Hauschildt runs Jaden Holsteins and Brown Swiss in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, with his parents, Jim and Diane. The herd has bred more than 100 Excellent Brown Swiss, 17 All-American nominees, and numerous state and national champions. Jaden has earned Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor at the Minnesota State Fair and Premier Breeder at the North American International Livestock Exposition.
A UW-Madison graduate, Hayden won the Dr. Dave Dickson Award for high oral reasons at the National Intercollegiate Dairy Judging Contest. He was associate judge of the 2022 International Brown Swiss Show and focuses his breeding program on strong cow families.
