Ontario Summer Jersey Show 2026

July 23rd 2026
Judge Richard Osborne

Two days in Lindsay, one consistent judge, one very readable pattern. Richard Osborne told the ring on Day 1 exactly what he wanted — balanced heifers walking correctly on all four feet with dairy quality from end to end — and he stayed loyal to it through every class of the milking show on Day 2. That consistency delivered a Junior Champion heifer from AJ Genetics & Golden Jerseys, a Grand Champion cow for Bridon Farms, and a milking show where Avonlea, Enniskillen and Glenholme swept the Premier banners. Weather was as pleasant as this facility has ever seen, per Dan Donor — and the depth on both days matched it.

Osborne to close the show: “A tough show to judge. Lots of friends in here, lots of people I respect a lot. I never dreamt in my life that I would get to judge Ontario Summer Show — it’s a true honour.” Two days, 103 head, one very consistent pattern from front-end refinement to rear-udder attachment — and a fall circuit that just got a lot more interesting.

Grand Champion: Riview Victorious Sophdawg ET — Bridon Farms Inc.
Osborne at the drive: “Extremely well balanced, walks extremely correctly on all four feet, and has a tremendous mammary system to go along with it — length of body, frame, scale, and the way she moves gave the advantage.” Second year in the top three at this show for Bridon.

Reserve Grand Champion: Mixin Moos Victorious Rylah — Ferme Pierre Boulet & Clark Valley
HM Grand Champion: Quality VIP Whimsy — Quality Farms Inc.

Intermediate Champion: Mixin Moos Victorious Rylah — Ferme Pierre Boulet & Clark Valley
Reserve Intermediate: Quality VIP Whimsy — Quality Farms Inc.
HM Intermediate: Enniskillen Colton Floss II ET — Enniskillen Jerseys

HONORABLE MENTION JUNIOR CHAMPION:
LIBERTY GEN CHOCOLATE MOUSSE ET (CHOCOCHIP), 1ST WINTER YEARLING, GRANHAVEN JERSEYS, OSHAWA, ON

Schulte Bros Victorious Final walked into Lindsay a senior calf and walked out Junior Champion of the Ontario Summer Jersey Show. Richard Osborne called it a “handy winner” — balanced end-to-end, correct on all four feet, with more rear rib depth than anything else in a stacked class. When AJ Genetics and Golden Jerseys teamed up on this one, who called it back in the fall?

HONORABLE MENTION GRAND CHAMPION OF THE 4-H SHOW:
GOLDEN MB SUSAN (MR BRIGHT), 3RD SUMMER YEARLING, BRONWYN CASSELL, ON

Glenholme Valorous Video came out second in the open Summer Yearling class this morning — then walked back into the ring and took 4-H Grand Champion of the Ontario Summer Jersey Show. That’s a 4-H heifer holding her own against Royal-caliber summer yearlings and still winning the banner that matters most to her showman. Which barn in your area is quietly building the best 4-H string right now?

Female Junior Calf

Born on or after March 1st, 2026

Osborne wanted a calf that stays balanced from ring-gate to lineup, and the Educated Guest daughter from Knonaudale delivered — length end-to-end, wide chest, and the freest rear-leg movement in the class. Second-place Belle was tight to her, sorted just on body length and ring poise. Third over fourth came down to femininity and front-end strength on the Lothmann Goldorak, while the Broadway Mamie in fourth offered a longer body but gave up a touch through the loin and hips to the calf that held her topline best in fifth.

Female Intermediate Calf

Born December 1st, 2025 to February 28th, 2026

Osborne started with the calf carrying the fewest faults — Super Nina, long-bodied, beautifully necked, walking well on all four and thick through both fore and rear rib. Nadja got the nod for second on rump and rib structure over the “ultra-dairy” Izabelle, who wasn’t giving up size but placed third on her hip and pin design. Third-to-fourth was a length-of-neck call in favour of Miracle Video Izabelle, then Getaway Gal in fourth was a hair more open through her core and moved more freely behind, taking her past Glenholme’s Acquisition — a beautiful calf Osborne would like to see again in the fall.

Female Senior Calf

Born September 1st, 2025 to November 30th, 2025

Handy winner, and you could hear it. Victorious Final was balanced end-to-end, handled all four feet correctly and moved best behind of anyone in the class — plus more rear rib depth and flank than the exceptionally dairy Lucretia in second. Second over third turned on quality length of body, with Osborne preferring the head length on the winner over Bluey coming in third. From there it was open ribbing that carried Bluey past a beautifully-ribbed fourth-place Time To Shine, and rump structure plus rear-leg placement that kept Edgelea’s Postal Strike in fifth. Two heifers here that could handle a lot of company come fall.

Female Summer Yearling

Born June 1st, 2025 to August 31st, 2025

Buckie won it on extreme length of body, openness of rib and sharpness through the front end and shoulder — a big frame with all the dairy character Osborne wanted. Valorous Video in second was the more correct, well-made heifer but got beat on that front-end refinement. Third over fourth swung on rump and hip-pin structure in Susan’s favour, then it was rib openness — especially at the top — that gave Victorious Secret the edge over Contractor Auction in fifth. Top four here could all show a long way from home.

Female Junior Yearling

Born March 1st, 2025 to May 31st, 2025

Mini Mouse was the class from the first turn — tremendous dairy quality from end to end, style through her head, and a rib that drops away beautifully at the flank. Second-place Cowbell had that same dairy character running back through her topline and got the nod on rear-leg handling over Goodie Gumdrop in third. A little switch third-to-fourth: Osborne preferred the way Goodie Gumdrop moved on all four at all times over Hollywood Heels, who kept her advantage on angularity and dairyness over the well-grown Vidalia in fifth.

Female Winter Yearling

Born December 1st, 2024 to February 28th, 2025

A Royal Winter Fair top-three heifer last fall, and she looked every bit of it in Lindsay. Osborne called her an incredible individual — extremely well-grown, well-made throughout, open through both fore and rear rib, and walking on a very correct set of feet and legs. A one-head class in the schedule, but she earned Junior Champion Honourable Mention on merit against the whole younger end of the show, and she’ll be one to watch as she fills into her frame this fall.

  1. LIBERTY GEN CHOCOLATE MOUSSE ET, JECANF15221236
    Junior Champion – Honourable Mention
    GRANHAVEN JERSEYS, OSHAWA, ON

Female Senior Yearling

Born September 1st, 2024 to November 30th, 2024

A big, strong Kid Rock heifer out of the 93-point Andreas cow now at Quality — pedigree that has done its work in the show ring, and it shows here. Osborne highlighted tremendous length of body and rear on this one; she was the lone senior yearling but she cut a picture doing it, and the Kid Rock × Andreas cross keeps proving itself for Alexvale, Beckett and Beckridge.

Milking Senior Yearling

Born September 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024

A single-head class, but a nice way to open the milking show — a Victorious daughter carrying the Peninsula prefix into the ring on a “good-to-be-alive” summer morning, tracing back to the late Jacob and Annie Vander Meulen’s foundation cows. Osborne noted a promising young cow with plenty of runway ahead of her. It’s always good to see a legacy prefix carrying on with the next generation of the family, and this one looks like she’ll add to it.

Born March 1st, 2024 to May 31st, 2024 . In milk or dry.

A handy winner here. Osborne called Whimsy a cow that “just excels in balance,” clean and well-blended past the withers and through the chest — very feminine, very stylish, and standing on flat, quality bone in those rear legs. That quality of bone and blend of parts put her past the Colton daughter in second. Fourth-over-fifth came down to that same “overall balance and blending of parts” — the Klondike in fourth had a hair more of it than the ultra-dairy K daughter in fifth. Consistent pattern, easy to read.

Osborne opened his placing straight through on dairy quality — Avonlea’s Air daughter took the top on overall dairyness, rear leg and rear-hock structure over the Treasure Map daughter in second. Fourth-over-fifth turned on width of rear — the Edgelea Val-O-Skene had more of it than the “extremely sharp” cow in fifth. Nice one to note for Avonlea, still humming along at 92 years old this year and stringing together bred-and-owned wins.

The class that stole the morning. Rylah — Supreme Champion at the Ontario Spring Discovery Show — walked in with an “extreme mammary system,” tremendous height and width to both fore and rear attachments, and a mid-section as balanced as anything in the ring. That balance and mammary put her past Moonrise in second, and second-over-third came down to height and width of rear udder plus more depth of rear rib on Moonrise over Love Shack. Third-to-fourth was quality of mammary again. A serious young cow that Osborne would flag right back to the ring at the Royal.

Close at the top and Osborne switched it late — he liked the texture and venation of Vanille’s rear udder plus a better blend of parts through the midsection on the move, all “small things,” but enough to nudge her past the second-year Royal veteran Shimmer. Second over third turned on height, width and volume of mammary — Shimmer had more of it than Suzette 732. Third-to-fourth was quality plus balance in Suzette’s favour, and fourth over fifth was blending of parts — especially the fore attachment — on Glamour over Rice Krispies. The Victorious daughter with Rivington influence and a 94-point Joel dam behind her walked in and looked the part immediately. Osborne wanted frame capacity and openness of rib on top, and Sophdawg had both — plus the mammary system that Osborne kept pointing to all day. Second-over-third came down to overall quality with the extra edge on the Kid Rock/Cybil Fisher-partnership cow in second. A small class in numbers, but a Grand Champion in the top spot who “he picked out in the barn yesterday” — his words at the Grand drive.

“High wide rear udders” — Neil Smith would’ve been proud. Osborne gave Panama the top spot mostly on length of body plus height and width up top, over Perennial’s Bontino Eve in second. Second over third turned on the way Eve’s udder blended snug into the body wall and the way she moved out down through her hock — Osborne preferred both to Enniskillen’s Victorious Floss. He gave third over fourth on rear-leg set — Floss struck a straighter set of legs — plus more height on the mammary than Tempress in fourth. Four honestly-dairy cows with real production written all over them.

Another Victorious out of the famous K & C family at Avonlea, and Osborne rewarded the pattern he’d been picking all day. Keep The Kisses Coming had the balance, the mammary quality and the correct feet and legs Osborne kept lining cows up on. Second went to Glenholme’s Gunman Alexa — the same cow that won her class at the Ontario Spring Discovery Show earlier this year. Enniskillen’s Prada Sue rounded out the class in third. Short, tidy class, easy to read on his pattern.

Female Mature Cow

Born prior to September 1st, 2020 . In milk or dry.

Osborne finished the individual classes with a mature-cow lineup he called “four tremendously dairy, milky cows.” Clear Appeal — a Bridon Remake America daughter with a real record book behind her and a 94-point score — got the nod on the way she rides through the ring plus the advantage on that rear udder. Second-over-third and third-over-fourth both turned on how snugly the rear udder blended into the body wall — Krackle had more of it than Vanity Fair, and Vanity Fair more than Engineer Suzette.
