Juniper Sid Chardonnay Tops 2018 Sale of Stars at $95,000

Anticipation was high as new sales managers Barclay Phoenix and John Weaver took over the reins of the Sale of Stars. While many were nervous to see if PETA would show up and rain on the parade, things went off without a hitch as the sale worked to prove that there is still a market for high-end pedigree cattle.

Topping the sale at $95,000 was Juniper Sid Chardonnay VG-87, 1st Junior 2 Year Old WDE 2018, bred Sept ’18 to Beemer, 6 gens VG or EX to Belroux Storm Cristal EX-96 2e 3*.  She was purchased by Elmvue Holstein from NY.

In an international first, a European show cow was sold in a North America show.  Bons-Holsteins Koba 219 EX-91 NL (S: Lauthority), the 6th generation of VG or EX who is gearing up for the 2019 European Championship show, saw half interest sell for $46,000 to Westcoast Holsteins from BC.

Rounding out the top Holstein lots was Fraeland Swiss Avalanche-Red who sold for $26,500.  This Sept ’17, due June ’18 to sexed Jordy, is from 7 gens VG, and was named Reserve Jr Champion earlier in the day in the Red & White Show.

The top Jersey lot was Campbell TD Excitation Felicidad, the daughter of Expo Grand Champion MB Lucky Lady Feliz Navidad and sold for $25,000.
