Michael T. Millenkamp, from Earlville, Iowa, farmer pleaded guilty today to harboring an illegal alien for his dairy business. Millenkamp plead guilty to one count of harboring, encouraging, and inducing an alien to reside in the United States in violation of law, for the purpose of commercial advantage or personal financial gain.
A press release said Millenkamp admitted in a plea deal that between 2007 and 2011 he employed several illegal aliens at his business, Mike Millenkamp Dairy Cattle. He also allowed some to reside at one or more of his farms.
The federal charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
The press release said Millenkamp agreed to pay $250,000 and make at least two public presentations to statewide farm groups about his case. Millenkamp also agreed to engage in ongoing compliance with employment laws and Iowa water standards.
