Winbrook choice tops sale at $10,200
The Vente Classique averaged an outstanding $4130 on some 80 consignments. Managed by Dominic Fortier the sale was held on March 7th at the Exposition Grounds in Victoriaville, Que.
Topping the sale at $10,200 was the first choice of a “Windbrook” heifer calf due to be born in September from Ms Goldwyn Alana-ET (Ex-95), the “Goldwyn” who was All-Canadian and Reserve All-American 5-year-old in 2013. Alana completes three generations of Excellents in the Alicia Family and has records to 15,607 kg milk, 4.2% fat, 3.5% protein (274-311-304). Purchased by Ferme Boulet, St-Francois-de-la-Riviere-du-Sud, Que., and Ferme Fortale Holstein Inc., St-Christophe-d’Arthabaska, Que., from consignors Ferme Fortale, Pierre Boulet, Montmagny, Que., and Isabelle Verville, St-Christophe-d’Arthabaska, Que.
T & L Cattle Ltd., Rosedale, B.C., paid $7500 for Buroco Lauthority Helay, a show aged September 2013 “Lauthority” heifer calf. Consigned by Donald Dubois, Princeville, Que., Ferme Buroco Inc., Beauceville, Que., and Martin Rodrigue & Isabelle Duval, Beauceville, Que., this calf is from an Excellent-90-2E “Blackjack” dam and an Excellent-92-2E, show winning “Gibson” second dam.
A fresh 2-year-old “Atwood” heifer, Garay Atwood Elite, was purchased by Ferme Intense, Ste-Brigitte-des-Saults, Que., for $7100 from consignor Gaspar Fillion, St-Sebastien, Que. She is from a Very Good-88, 4-Star “Durham” dam and then six more Excellent dams after that in the Krull Broker Elegance (Ex-96-3E-USA-GMD-DOM-1*) family.
