Shirlinn cow sells for $30,000

Brian and Vicki Wilson, Shirlinn Jersey stud, Tamworth, with Shirlinn Tequila Snowflake who sold for $30,000 on Thursday.

NEW dairy records were set at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Center in Tamworth yesterday with Shirlinn Jersey stud selling its 2014 Sydney Royal intermediate supreme champion for $30,000 – the second highest record price for a Jersey sold in Australia.

The intermediate champion, Shirlinn Tequila Snowflake, was by Tower Vue Prime Tequila and from Koree Island Signature Snow.

Vendors, Brian and Vicki Wilson, Tamworth, then went on to achieve a full clearance of their 59 lots and set a new Australian record with the highest average achieved from a Jersey sale in the country of $6027.

The stud has been an icon in the dairy industry since 1970 and has sold lots to all states and even across the Tasman to New Zealand.

Brian Lesley of Dairy Livestock Services was the auctioneer.
