Managed by Great North Land and Cattle, The 2019 National Holstein Convention Sale took place on Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 in Appleton, WI. The sale consisted of two halves – with the first half billed as the Genomic Sale and the second half the live cattle sale. The genomic section averaged $45,493 on 28 lots; and the live section averaged $5,475 on 52 live and choice lots.
Singing the National Anthem was a special guest performance by Chris Kroeze from Barron, Wisconsin and a participant on The Voice sponsored by the Barron County Holstein Breeders. His roots are deep in Barron as his father was an employee of Indian Head Holsteins owned by Bob and Karen Schauf, and Chris spent quite a bit of time at Indian Head himself. Before he flew off to entertain our U.S. troops overseas, he blessed the sale crowd with not only the Anthem but sang God Bless the U.S.A. as the half time entertainment.
