Youth Contest Entry Deadlines Looming for 2015 All-American Dairy Show

Cash and prizes are up for grabs in youth contests that challenge the next generation of America’s dairy industry as part of the 2015 All-American Dairy Show.

The show runs September 12-17 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center and features the Premier National Junior Events September 12-15.

The events kick off Sunday, September 13, with the All-American Dairy Show Youth Showmanship Contest, the largest showmanship contest of its kind, starting at 9:30 AM. Pre-registration for the contest is required, and open on Saturday, September 12, from 4:30-6 PM or Sunday from 7:30-8:30 AM.

On Monday, September 14, the All-American hosts the 47th Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, featuring more than 40 teams representing 20 or more states and universities.  Online entries will be accepted until September 4 for this special contest. The contest is sponsored by the All-American Dairy Foundation and Genex Cooperative and the awards banquet is sponsored by the PA Dairymen’s Association.

Two contests take place on Tuesday, September 15: the 41st Dairy Judging Forum and the 29th Junior Dairy Management Contest, both starting at 9 AM. Pre-registration is recommended for the judging forum and required for the management contest. Fees for the management contest are $20 per team and $5 for an individual – there is no cost for the forum. For both contests, enter online HERE . (click “Pennsylvania AADS-KILE-Farm Show”) by September 4.

Showmanship contestants will be divided into three age (as of show day) groups: Juniors ages 8-11, Intermediates ages 12-15, and Seniors ages 16-21. Youth compete in heats, with top 10 finalists receiving awards. Finalists in the intermediate division will receive a set of Andis Clippers compliments of Andis. Bock Cattle Identification and Udder Tech are sponsoring duffle bags and Hoard’s Dairyman will present showmanship blankets. Ribbons presented to all winners will be sponsored by Fight Bac and the winning senior will receive a personalized, embroidered jacket sponsored by Daniel Brandt Pedigrees & Marketing.

The judging forum is open to 4-H and FFA members and teams. Contestants place four classes of dairy cattle, take a HERE.
