Ayrshire sires transmit great fitness and type
Proven sires 7AY93 BERKELY and 7AY108 RANEY excel across the breed in fitness traits. Showcase SelectionsTM sire, BERKELY ranks No. 1 in the breed for Heifer Conception Rate (HCR) (+4.1) and No. 3 for Cow Conception Rate (CCR) (+1.6). RANEY, a Calimero son, is No. 3 for Productive Life (PL) (+1.5), No. 4 for CCR (+1.5) and HCR (+2.5) and No. 5 for Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR) (+0.5). Available in gender SELECTedTM semen, RANEY stands ready to fill your heifer pens and is an excellent choice for all the 7AY84 BURDETTE daughters out there.
Super SamplersTM 7AY111 REAGAN and 7AY118 CHAMP rank first and second among young sires for Type at +1.6 and +1.5, respectively. These two Showcase Selections sires come from well-known cow families with impressive show winnings. CHAMP is a son from previous World Dairy Expo grand champion Cedarcut Burdette Clove Colata (EX-93-EX-MS).
ADVISOR joins Brown Swiss lineup
The Brown Swiss lineup at Select Sires is strengthened by the addition of 7BS871 ADVISOR. A Brookings son from Blessing Vigor Alessa-ET “E90 E90MS”, ADVISOR ranks No. 1 in the industry for Cheese Merit (CM$) (+608), Grazing Merit (GM$) (+515), Net Merit (NM$) (+567), percent Protein (+0.09) and PL (+7.7). ADVISOR is also the breed’s No. 2 sire for GPPR (+181).
7BS852 BOSEPHUS and 7BS863 SEAMAN continue to sire high-producing cows and transmit appealing type traits. December sire summaries rank both BOSEPHUS and SEAMAN third in the industry for Type (+1.2). 7BS826 AUGUST (+2.5), BOSEPHUS (+2.5), SEAMAN (+1.4) and ADVISOR (+1.3) are among the breed’s best for Sire Conception Rate (SCR), all ranking in the top 10.
Super Samplers 7BS894 SMOOTH and 7BS889 HILTON are both standouts in the breed for indexes. SMOOTH ranks No. 2 for NM$ (+580) and CM$ (+619) and has a high GPPR value (+191). HILTON ranks No. 3 for NM$ (+577) and CM$ (+599) and No. 4 for GPPR (+208).
Exciting additions and developments in the Guernsey lineup
7GU458 JAGUAR joins the proven Guernsey sires at Select Sires. In his debut to the proven lineup, JAGUAR ranks well for a variety of Type traits, including Udder Composite (UDC) (+1.5), Type (+1.8) and Foot and Leg Composite (FLC) (+1.6). This elite Type sire brings a unique pedigree and outcross opportunities to the lineup. JAGUAR is a Conqueror son from an Excellent (93-EX-93-MS) 7GU360 TILLER daughter.
7GU446 NOVAK continues his reign as the No. 1 sire for CM$ (+376), NM$ (+374) and Fluid Merit (FM$) (+370). He also transmits outstanding fitness traits and ranks in the top five for DPR (+1.1), Livability (LIV) (+2.4) and PL (+2.8).
In terms of young genomic sires, Select Sires continues to grow and strengthen the lineup with sires that transmit favorable production and Type traits.
