Over 100 Animals Die in Philidor Barn Fire

 

Dozens of firefighters from Noyan and neighboring municipalities had to run to fight the fire at Philidor Farm Inc. The farm is owned by Louis Leduc, who is  a 4 th generation dairy farmer. More than a hundred animals died in a violent fire that razed the main building of a dairy farm in Noyan, Montérégie.  Fire services were called at about 2 a.m. to the farm in Noyan, near the Quebec-U.S. border south of Montreal.

“I awoke at two in the morning and there was fire all around,” said Louis Leduc, owner of the farm, in an interview with TVA News. There was nothing left to do. It was my grandparents, and it was the fourth generation that was leaving, my sons were going back to the farm. ”

The owners was able to save about 15 cows but the building was destroyed.

According to the deputy fire chief of Saint-Georges-de-Clarenceville / Noyan, Michael Johnston, an investigation has been opened.
