New cattle breeding company Mastergen is slashing prices on four of its top Holstein sires throughout November and offering a £25 Marks & Spencer voucher for Christmas on all orders of at least 40 straws of dairy or 100 straws of beef semen.
The price cut has been made in recognition of the difficult economic conditions many farmers currently face, allowing them to refill their semen flasks with high quality genetics at a fraction of the usual cost.
Powerplay
The headline sire in the offer is the genomic leader, MG Inseme Powerplay. This bull weighs in with both the highest Profitable Lifetime Index (£PLI) at £643 and the highest Spring Calving Index (£SCI) at £430 of all sires available to UK farmers.

A Guarini son out of a Cricket, this world-leading Holstein is available for one month only on a Buy One Get One Free basis. This means the average straw price for Powerplay is just £19.50 – far lower than any sire of comparable genetic merit.
Magicboy
Also in the November offer is the Canadian bred Delaberge Magicboy, a Man-O-Man son out of a Goldwyn, and backed by seven generations of VG/EX dams. With a genomic Type Merit of 2.24, 1.75 for Mammary and 2.45 for Feet and Legs, Magicboy is available as sexed semen only, for just £21 per straw.
Bowman
At the same price in the offer and also available only as sexed semen is the American bred, Sully Bowser Bowman. This Bowser son is out of the renowned brood cow and former index leader in both the USA and Canada (ranked on CTPI and CLPI), Sully Shottle May.
Backed by eight generations of VG/EX dams, Bowman scores 2.79 for Type Merit, 2.54 for Mammary and 1.47 for Feet and Legs.
Harcos
The final sire in the November offer is the proven Italian bull, Castelbosco P Harcos. A son of Planet out of a Shottle dam, Harcos scores a massive 3.18 Type Merit with 2.95 for Mammary and 2.59 for Feet and Legs.
A sire analyst’s recent daughter inspection report stated:
“Harcos is a sire with high production, good dairy strength and lovely bone quality with strong pasterns. He follows his linear pretty well, locomotion was good and temperament excellent. The udders are as tight and as good as you will find.”
Harcos is available during the offer period for just £15 per straw.
