“Frazzled” daughter tops the 65th edition of the Sale of Stars at $80,000

A big crowd turned out for the 65th edition of the Sale of Stars was held on November 9th at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, Ont. The evening sale which realized an average of $10,384 (unofficial) on 80 lots under the management of Brian Craswell Auctions Ltd. and Blondin Int’l Inc.

Topping the sale at $80,000 was Pine-Tree 6809 Fraz 7605-ET, a July 2017 “Frazzled” daughter from the Pine-Tree Ramos Alexia-ET (Ex-91-2E-USA) family with a +2882 GTPI. Consigned by Pine-Tree Holsteins, Marshallville, Ohio, and selling in absentia, she is from a “Draco” dam who is due to calve in December. The second dam is a Very Good-85-USA “Shaw” with 14,873 kg milk, 4.5% fat, 3.1% protein. The fourth dam, Alexia, is the number 11 Pro$ cow in the world and completes nine generations of Excellent or Very Good.

The second highest seller was Parkhurst Modesty Samarie, a March 2017 “Modesty” heifer calf who is the number 2 Red Carrier GTPI heifer in the world at +2831 GTPI, sold for $57,000. Consigned by Ferme Parkhurst Inc., Saint-Patrice-de-Beaurivage, Que., she is from a Very Good-85-2y “Kingboy” dam who completes 12 generations of Very Good or Excellent in the noted Splendor cow family and is projected to make 12,905 kg milk, 5.2% fat, 3.4% protein (319-451-347) as a 2-year-old.

Rounding out the top sellers was a “Modesty” calf, Gillette Modesty Claryfischer, brought a bid of $40,000. Consigned by Ferme Gillette Inc., Embrun, Ont., this November 2016 calf has a +2818 GTPI and +2.4 GPTAT. She is from a recently fresh “Lottomax” dam, followed by a Very Good-85-2y “McCutchen” grandam projected to 15,534 kg milk, 4.9% fat, 3.7% protein (305-405-353) at 4 years who completes five generations of Very Good or Excellent.
