Erie County Exhibitor Wins Master Youth Showman During 2016 All-American Dairy Show

Eddie Sekerak of Erie Co. Pa., took home first place in the 19th annual Youth Showmanship Contest during the 2016 All-American Dairy Show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in in Harrisburg.

The Youth Showmanship Contest consisted of several different age groups with youth from many states. The contestants first participated in a showmanship contest and if selected, they proceed to the next round. The top ten seniors then put their fitting skills to the test by completely fitting a Holstein heifer in one hour.

The senior division judges consisted of Katie Coyne-Debruin of Johnson Creek,Wisconsin, who placed the showmanship portion, and Joesph Nash of Lyndonville, New York, juded the fitting portion of the contest.

Sekerak was also recognized as Master Fitter in the contest.

Champion Senior received a $250 cash award, courtesy of Centre-Clinton Holstein Association along with a custom embroidered directors chair courtesy of Jane and Bob Pepple, and a custom embroidered jacket courtesy of Daniel Brandt Pedigrees and Marketing. Top showmen recived a $75 cash award, courtesy of Peter G. Blodgett Memorial Fund, Rip-N-Good Kids. The master fitter received $50 cash award, courtesy of Penn Gate Farm, Steve, Chris and Corbin Wood.

Top ten showmen in each division received a custom embroidered blanket courtesy of Hoards Dairyman, Corey Geiger, Managing Editor. They also receive a neck medallion courtesy of Fight Bac, Dr. Geoffrey Westfall along with a drawstring bag compliments of Mid Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Poromotion Program.

Top ten intermediate divison winners received a set of Andis clippers and blades provided by Andis Company, in addition to a backpack courtesy of Udder Tech, Inc.

The top ten junior showman recived a backpack compliments of Bock’s Identi Company.

The top ten senior divison winners received a hair dryer courtesy of the PA Dairymen’s Association.

4th – Megan Bunnel of Aurora, NY.
5th – Rachel Rouland from Clifton Springs, NY.
6th – Daniel Kitchen of Montour Co., Pa.
7th – Brooke Carey of Crawford Co., Pa.
8th – Madi Weaver fo Lancaster Co., Pa.
9th – Lane Kummer of Butler Co., Pa.
10th – Brooke Andera of Great Valley, NY.

The 53rd All-American Dairy Show runs September 18-22 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. This year’s show features 22 shows in six days, the nation’s only all-dairy antiques show, nearly 2,800 animals and more than 1,300 exhibitors from across the nation. The week caps off with the 60th Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Pageant on Saturday, October 1, at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pa.
