Update from Laura Dufford Jackson (Patricia’s daughter and Reese’s Aunt) posted last night:
A few changes since my last post…Reese has had quite a few good days and made some improvement but this week, doctors decided that Reese had gone about as far as she could on ECMO. ECMO has supported Reese for a long time now and we are so grateful for the machine. Tomorrow, Reese will undergo a very big surgery and we need all the prayers you can all muster up. I know we have asked for big prayers many times now, but tomorrow might be the biggest need for prayers yet. Tomorrow Reese will undergo surgery to have her supported by a device called R-VAD which will replace the ECMO. While we are all so grateful for the plan to move forward we are a bit nervous about the procedure. This is a big one…a very big surgery…but the benefits of this surgery could be huge! If this goes as planned, Reese could possibly (in the future) be able to sit up in a chair, be weaned off some of her sedatives and her burns can be addressed while on this device…something that couldn’t be done on ECMO. We all want Reese to heal, get well and come home. We are all praying that tomorrow will be the day she truly turns the corner and moves closer toward recovering. Please, our family begs you all to drop to your knees and pray. Pray for the surgeons, anesthesiologists, doctors, nurses and respiratory team…pray that God uses their hands and wisdom to heal this little girl. Pray for Reese to be stronger than ever before tomorrow. Pray for Justin and Claire to hold strong tomorrow…pray for our entire family as we gather around to support Reese. We know, we truly know that we have asked for so many prayers now…but we aren’t done yet…Reese is still fighting. Please join us as we fight for Reese and with Reese…we pray so hard tonight and will pray harder tomorrow. Hoping we bombard God with prayers tonight and tomorrow. We haven’t forgotten to thank Him for all He has done and how far He has brought Reese…we just need a little more. Please pray for Reese, for she has a big day tomorrow!
