World’s largest fluid milk plant opens

The largest dairy processing plant for fresh milk officially opened today in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England. The $835 million investment built by Arla Foods cooperative is expected to supply 10% of England’s milk. Arla Foods is a farmer-owned cooperative with 3,000 members. Only 900 of those members will supply the 240,000 liters (545,000 pounds) of milk needed to operate the facility. The plant actually began processing milk in November, but was adding finishing touches until recently.
