Update: Henk Schuurmans, following the fatal crash on the Canadian Milk Tour

On July 9th, the dairy industry was set a reeling after learning the news of the fatal crash during the Canadian Milk Tour, just outside of Saskatoon (Read more: Dairy Industry Devastated as Tragedy Strikes Couple on Cross Country Tour Promoting Canadian Supply Management System). As a result of that accident, Henk Schuurmans was taken to hospital with serious injuries while his wife, Bettina, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

This past Thursday, the Schuurmans children gathered in Saskatoon to pay tribute to their mother Bettina and to support Henk, who had surgery as a result of his injuries and is now making progress on his recovery. The family has also reached out on social media thanking everyone for their support and prayers through this tragedy.

The GoFundMe page, started as a fundraiser to help with expenses related to the accident and provide support for the family, has more than quadrupled its $10,000 goal so far, with contributions pouring in from dairy producers across the country. If you’d like to contribute please visit HERE
