After consultation with the export/import teams at Defra and the APHA, Holstein UK are delighted to confirm that Team GB will be travelling to compete in Colmar, France this year.
The European Holstein and Red Holstein Championships take place every three or four years and are eagerly anticipated by both the countries taking part and the Holstein community worldwide.
Team GB will be limited in number to five Red & White and 10 Black & White cows and there are restrictions to how many cows per country can take part, so domestic competition for the opportunity to represent their country can be fierce and contribute to a great atmosphere even ahead of the event!
With the help of Lynden Bustard and Carl Smith, John Gribbon has been very busy attending shows over the past year to scout potentials for the UK team and movement restrictions and health protocol requirements for all Holstein team members will begin in early April.
No definitive selection has yet been made, so if you think you may have an animal worthy for a place on either the Red & White or the Black & White team, please contact johngribbon@holstein-uk.org to arrange a visit.
