About $70,000 worth of bull semen and embryos were stolen from a dairy farm near Le Roy.
The owner of the farm at 11384 790th Ave., Daniel Weness, reported Tuesday that a storage canister with vials of bull semen was taken from his unlocked barn. Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said the theft happened sometime between April 1 and 7. Weness said the only time he and his hired hand were away from the farm was on Easter Sunday.
The canister holding the bull semen and embryo vials, itself, is worth around $500.
Weness said he currently has about 80 animals on his farm.
