The fourth victory in a row of Llinde Ariel Jordan (SAT Ceceño, Cantabria) winning the title of CONAFE National Grand Champion Cow at the 43º Spanish Holstein Show CONAFE 2023 held on Saturday 23th September in Gijón (Asturias) places this amazing animal alone at the head of the winners of the Nationals Holstein Shows in Spain with four times Grand National Cow Champion titles. In addition, this victory represents a historical milestone never seen before and probably very difficult to repeat.
Llinde Ariel Jordan stood out among the quality of the 159 animals that went into the ring presented by 52 Holstein Spanish breeders and judged by Paulino Badiola. Ariel prevailed in the great championship against Serrada Chantel Chief (La Serrada, Ávila), CONAFE Grand Champion Reserve, and Rey 814 Beemer Yuri (Rey de Miñotelo, Lugo), which received an Honorable Mention.
Ponderosa Holsteins (Lleida, Catalonia) obtained the title of Best Cow Breeder and Casa Flora, from Asturias, the Second Best Breeder. In the same way, Ponderosa Holstein won the award of Best Cow Herd, with Casa Flora being the Second Best again.
National Champion of Calves and Heifers
This edition of the Spanish National Show began with the calves and heifers classes, held in the morning. The awards for Best Herd and Best Calves and Heifers Breeder went to Rey de Miñotelo (Lugo) and the Second Best Herd and Second Best Breeder awards for Ganadería Carro (Galicia).
The National Champion of Calves and Heifers went to Casa Venturo (Asturias) with Venturo Happen Rosani. As National Champion Reserve was chosen Casa-Nova Gigi Blaska 1661 (Ganadería Carro, Galicia).
Calves and Red Cows Championships
This year we celebrated the Calves and Red Cows Championships for second time. In the Red Calves and Heifers Championships, SAT Cabo Oyambre took the title of Champion to Cantabria with Oyambre Kandela Moovin Red. And keeping the same position of last year, as Red Calves and Heifers Champion Reserve the judge chosed Gloria Warrior Antya Red (Gloria Holstein, Cantabria).
In the National Championship of Red Cows, Ferreiro Rocío Jordy Red Roja (Casa Cid, Lugo, Galicia) won the title of National Champion Red Cow and Sarobefarm Warrior Izane Roja (Sarobefarm, Bizkaia, Basque Country) was Champion Reserve.
The Best Autonomy Award went for second year in a row to Catalonia, followed by Cantabria this time.
Paulino Badiola chosed Alberto Iglesia (Galicia), Elio Noci (Italy) and Vicente Velasco (Galicia), in this order, as the best showmanships.
The XXII National Showmanship was the perfect ending
The XXII National Showmanship closed on Sunday the great Spanish Holstein weekend with a perfect ending thanks to the large participation, with 39 participants from 1 to 28 years. Llorenç Bosch stood out as Senior Champion; María Otero as Junior Champion; and Claudia Lopez as Children’s Champion. CONAFE judges Paulino Badiola, Xavier Álvarez and Bonet Cid valued how they presented the animals on the ring.
The 43º Spanish Holstein Show CONAFE 2023 has been organized by CONAFE (Spanish Holstein Confederation) with the collaboration of Asturiana de Control Lechero-Asociación Frisona (ASCOLAF) and under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Rural Development and Natural Resources of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, the City Council of Gijón, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Chamber of Commerce of Gijón, CLAS, Caja Rural de Gijón and Caja Rural de Asturias.
