Second cow to win the Grand Championship three times, but the first one to do it for third time in a row
The absolute protagonist of the 42º Spanish Holstein Show CONAFE 2022 held on Saturday 24th September was Llinde Ariel Jordan (Ceceño, Cantabria), not only for winning again the title of CONAFE National Grand Champion Cow, but also for becoming the first one to do it for third time in a row. This 11-year-old cow attracted the attention of the Hungarian judge Zsolt Kőrösi from her entrance on the ring thanks to her extraordinary dairy character and her mammary system.
Llinde Ariel Jordan stood out among the quality of the 173 animals that went into the ring presented by 51 Holstein Spanish breeders and it prevailed in the great championship against Rey 814 Beemer Yuri (Rey de Miñotelo, Lugo), CONAFE Grand Champion Reserve, and Venturo Crushtime Romería (Casa Venturo, Asturias), which received an Honorable Mention.
Badiola obtained the title of Best Cow Breeder and Casa Flora, also from Asturias, the Second Best Breeder. Ponderosa Holstein (Lleida) won the award of Best Cow Herd, with Casa Venturo being the Second Best.
National Champion of Calves and Heifers
This edition of the Spanish National Show began with the calves and heifers classes, held in the morning. The awards for Best Herd and Best Calves and Heifers Breeder went to Rey de Miñotelo (Lugo) and the Second Best Herd and Second Best Breeder awards for Casa Venturo (Asturias).
The National Champion of Calves and Heifers went again to Rey de Miñotelo with Rey 1000 Master Sorlinda ET. As National Champion Reserve was chosen Venturo Thunder Storm Almira (Casa Venturo, Asturias).
Calves and Red Cows Championships
The new Calves and Red Cows Championships was the main novelty of the CONAFE Spanish National Holstein Show 2022. In the Red Calves and Heifers Championships, Rey de Miñotelo took the title of Champion to Lugo with Rey 995 Warrior Srosali Red ET. As Red Calves and Heifers Champion Reserve the judge chose Gloria Warrior Antya Red (Gloria Holstein, Cantabria).
In the National Championship of Red Cows, Badiola Jordy Mega Roja (Badiola Holstein, Asturias) won the title of National Champion Red Cow and Ponderosa Incredibul Barbaroja (Ponderosa Holstein) was Champion Reserve.
The Best Autonomy Award went this year to Catalonia, followed by Asturias.
Zsolt Kőrösi chose Agapito Fernández (Cantabria), Julián Rodríguez (Asturias) and Alberto Medina (Asturias), in this order, as the best showmanships.
The XXI National Showmanship was the perfect ending
The XXI National Showmanship closed on Sunday the great Spanish Holstein weekend with a perfect ending thanks to the large participation, with 41 participants from 1 to 23 years. Aida Moll stood out as Senior Champion; Lorena Iglesia as Junior Champion; and Claudia Lopez as Children’s Champion. CONAFE judges Xavier Álvarez, Bonet Cid and Jaume Serrabasa valued how they presented the animals on the ring.
The 42º Spanish Holstein Show CONAFE 2022 has been organized by CONAFE (Spanish Holstein Confederation) with the collaboration of Asturiana de Control Lechero-Asociación Frisona (ASCOLAF) and under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Rural Development and Natural Resources of the Government of the Principality of Asturias, the City Council of Gijón, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Chamber of Commerce of Gijón, CLAS, Caja Rural de Gijón and Caja Rural de Asturias.
