Holstein Fall Calf Named All-American Dairy Show Supreme Junior Champion

MD-Dun-Loafin Lauth Elly-ET bested 835 calves and heifers from seven breeds to be named the Supreme Champion Heifer in the 2012 All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

The winning Fall Calf, selected from a field of 129 entries in the Holstein show, was owned by Michael Heath and David Dyment, of Westminster, Md. Ellie was the winning Fall Calf and Junior Champion of the Holstein show under Judge Mark Rueth. Her dam is Ma-Ba-Tom Rubens Elly-ET, she is sired by Comestar Lauthority-ET, and was bred by Paul Harrison of Burkittsville, Md.

The first-ever $750 award was sponsored by Kingsley Blasco and Associates Insurance Agency of Newville, Cumberland County.

The judges were Stanley Chupp of Inola, Okla.; Ted DeMent of Kenney, Ill.; Chris Lahmers of Marysville, Ohio; Norm Magnussen of Lake Mills, Wis.; Mark Rueth of Oxford, Wis.; Chad Ryan of Fond du Lac, Wis.; and Jeffrey Zeigler of Plain City, Ohio.

Holstein judge, Rueth spoke on behalf of his fellow judges, saying, “This is quite an impressive group of individuals but this calf is just so clean and dairy that she excels above the others.”

The six other All-American Junior Champions were:

  • Brown Swiss – PA-Lyn-Leigh Denver Topsy, Dylan Coleman, Ronks, Lancaster Co.
  • Guernsey – Sniders Kringle Brookly, Chase Cessna, New Enterprise, Bedford Co.
  • Holstein – Md-Dun-Loafin Lauth Elly-ET, Michael Heath and David Dyment, Westminster, Md.
  • Jersey – M-Signature Tequila Clara Marie, Calla and Bailey Mazzaro, Elaina Sharp, Duane Cole, Williamsfield, Ohio
  • Milking Shorthorn – Solid Gold Mega Priceless-ET, Spencer Weimer, Emlenton, Venango Co. Red & White – Whitdale D. Hvezda Sky-Red, Chris and Jennifer Hill and Chad Umbel, Thurmont, Md.
