In honour of celebrating 75 years of Genetic Progress at Genus ABS, earlier this year we announced we would be running a national competition for one lucky farm to win a free tank of semen! Entries came in thick and fast at agricultural shows throughout the year, and we are delighted to say that a winner has now been selected at random…
Congratulations to the Jones family of Ffrwdwen Farm, Camarthenshire! Our winners submitted their entry at The Royal Welsh Show earlier this summer and said on hearing the news of their success;

” We are so thrilled to have won the competition. When we entered, we thought it would be one of those competitions that you never hear anything from and we were always sceptical as to whether these prizes were actually given away or not! We are absolutely delighted that this was not the case and that we have won. We get great value from our Genus ABS Beef calves and our free supply of semen will be a huge benefit to the farm next year”.
Meet our winners…
The Jones family took on their first council tenancy in 1993, milking a herd of just 10 cows. The family then moved to their second council tenancy at Ffrwdwen Farm and have been increasing their herd size ever since, with both sons now following in their parents footsteps and joining the family farming business. Having now also purchased their own local farm, the family own a herd of 320 cows across both farms and also run a very successful, homemade ice-cream business ‘Mountainview Ice-cream’ from the farm. Look out for their products now available at many events throughout the year, in particular their Christmas specials which have been proven to be hugely popular with the whole family!
