The fire was too intense to rescue cows and bulls trapped inside
A fire at a dairy farm near Trois-Rivières, Que., has killed 40 cows and bulls.
The fire broke out at the just before noon on Saturday. It quickly grew too intense for the owners to be able to rescue many of their animals.
Black smoke could be seen from several kilometres around Champlain, the small town where the Duval dairy farm is located.
Neighbouring fire departments were needed to help put out the flames.
Highway 138 was closed in both directions but has since reopened.
