A most successful weekend of fundraising for both Mom and Reese (there were three events this past weekend…thanks to those that organized and those that participated). Mom had the best time on Saturday visiting with some old friends that came out to support the benefit. It was so good to see her laughing and smiling with friends again. Mom continues to do well at home…still going to therapy about 3 times a week. She still needs to gain strength and does each day. Her skin is healing well…a little set back with her skin but she was able to be fit for a new skin support device today…made in Germany and will be here in about 2 weeks. Mom calls it a straight jacket…but it will provide more compression to her arms and hands for better healing.
Reese had a little bit of a set back this past week with a new lung infection. But with quick acting doctors and staff, they were able to treat her quickly and today she is back to where she was a week ago. Her skin continues to heal, her lungs continue to heal and they continue to wean her off of sedation meds. As of today, she is off of all IV sedation medications so all that remains is her oral meds. This is huge progress…This coming week the doctors will administer another round of the liquid vent that they used on her some time ago to help open up her larger airways. They are hopeful this will open up the smaller airways this time and expidite her lung healing. We continue to keep both Mom and Reese in our every thought and prayer and ask that you do the same. For Mom, pray for strength and continued skin healing. For Reese, pray for no infections and healing lungs…strong lungs, lungs that want to breath air. Thanks to all that continue to send cards, gifts, donations and well wishes…but most of all, thanks to all that continue to PRAY. We believe in the power of prayer.
