Since 2000, Austria has doubled the number of herdbook registered Holstein cows. This past year 50,000 registered Holstein cows are on official production recording in Austria. These cows are in 5,048 herds and have average production figures of 8,592 kg milk with 4.07% fat and 3.28% protein. Holstein Austria has set a lifetime production target of 35,000 kg of milk per cow, while the current lifetime production average is at 31,000 kg milk.
