2024 State of Women in Dairy Report

IDFA’s 2024 State of Women in Dairy report offers data-based metrics and recommendations to support gender equality across the entire supply chain. Despite progress in women’s representation in the U.S. dairy industry, roadblocks persist. The report, a direct outcome of IDFA’s People Strategy and its Women in Dairy network, captures key metrics on attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, and policies affecting women employed throughout the dairy supply chain.

Policies prohibiting gender discrimination are widespread, but some question their effectiveness. More companies are offering flexible work schedules, and both men and women support additional flexibilities to care for family members. In terms of leadership, 55% of female respondents want to be a senior leader, while 34% already hold a senior position.

IDFA encourages current and future leaders in the dairy industry to review the report, consider the findings, and engage with IDFA and their teams to address challenges and create more opportunities for women in U.S. dairy. This is an important opportunity for collaboration and progress. IDFA plans to continue the conversation around opportunities identified in the report with new programming in the coming months.
