Milk production in the United States during the October – December quarter totaled 55.6 billion pounds, up 3.0 percent from the same three months a year earlier.
The average number of milk cows during the quarter was 9.43 million head, 59,000 head more than the July – September time period of 2020, and 81,000 head more than the same period last year.
California continues to have the highest total production, with South Dakota having the greatest percent-increase in output.
