2015 Unanimous All-American Winter Calf tops Willows Edge Holsteins Dispersal

There was a chilly wind but a great crowd made the trip to New Richmond for the Willows Edge Dispersal Sale. Topping the sale was Willows-Edge Real Mink-Red, selling for $37,500. The herd, owned by Henk & Bonnie VanDyk, has been a perennial showring contender, founded on strong cow families. The sale took place before a standing-room only crowd, averaging $3,166 on 165 lots, not including embryos.

Topping the sale at $37,500 was Lot 46, the 2015 Unanimous R&W All-American Winter Calf, Willows Edge Real Mink-Red. Mink, fresh earlier this month, was also nominated All-American R&W Winter Yearling in 2016. She is a Reality daughter from an EX91-2E Advent, followed by an EX93-2E Rubens and then 7 generations of EX & VG dams. She was purchased by Kyle Knutsen & Bonnie Van Dyk, WI.

The second highest seller of the day was Lot 8, selling for $9,300. Willows Edge GD Frankie is a VG88 Golden Dreams from an EX91 AltaIota daughter of Willows Edge Bolton Flicker WX94-2E-GMD, with 8 more generations of EX & VG GMD cows following. Frankie will make her new home with Mike Garrow, NY.

Rounding ot the top sellers at $9,000 was Lot 30, Budjon-JK Atwd Eyeshadow-ET VG87. Eyeshadow is an Atwood daughter of Budjon-JK Storm Emily-ET EX92-2E-DOM, the 2005 Reserve All-American Senior 3 Year Old; followed by Linjet Eileen EX96-4E-GMD-DOM, the 2007 All-American 5 Year Old, with five more generations of EX dams from the Elegance family. She was also purchased by Mike Garrow, NY.
