Weeksdale Absolute Vodka Tops East Coast Style Sale 2017 at $56,000

Weeksdale Absolute Vodka, the 1st place Senior Two Year Old and Reserve Grand Champion at this springs Atlantic Spring Showcase (Read more: ATLANTIC SPRING SHOWCASE HOLSTEIN SHOW 2017) has topped the East Coast Style Sale at $56,000. Consigned by Weeksdale Holsteins, Frank A. and Diane Borba, Modesto, Calif., and Rocky Allen of Australia, she was purchased by Branden Almeida, Modesto, Calif., Hi-Calibre Holsteins, Burntcoat, N.S., and Frank and Diane Borba. Vodka is projected to 12,854 kg milk, 3.7% fat, 3.4% protein (318-323-336) and carried a July breeding service to “Emilio”. This fancy young cow is from an Excellent-93-2E “Sanchez” dam with 13,995 kg milk, 3.4% fat, 3.0% protein (265-241-251), while the second dam is an Excellent-93-4E “Goldwyn”, followed by an Excellent, 2-Star “Lee”.

The sale average of $6376 (unofficial) on 131 lots which featured the best of Weeksdale Holsteins along with some select guest consignments, was managed by Blair and Jaime Weeks of Weeksdale and held the day before the Atlantic Summer Classic Show.

The 2nd highest seller was Weeksdale Windbrook Dalia (Ex-92), a stylish “Windbrook” daughter who had been second 5-year-old at Atlantic Spring Showcase this year,  sold for $50,000. She was purchased by Broad Cove Holsteins, Burntcoat, N.S., to dissolve the previous partnership they held on this cow with Weeksdale Holsteins. Fresh since mid-April, Dalia is currently projected to 10,611 kg milk, 3.1% fat, 3.1% protein (210-174-206). Eight of the nine dams behind her are Excellent or Very Good. Dalia’s Excellent-90-2E “Goldwyn” dam had been first 5-year-old at the 2012 Atlantic Summer Classic and has credits to 11,739 kg milk, 3.8% fat, 3.1% protein (236-239-228).

Best selling bred heifer at $25,500 was Butlerview Win Classic-ET who sold to T & L Cattle Ltd., Rosedale, B.C. She is a “Windbrook” daughter from Silvermaple Damion Camomile (Ex-95-USA), the two-time All-Canadian and All-American “Damion” who completes three generations of Excellents. Due in October to McIntosh Jantunen, she was consigned by Weeksdale, Rocky Allen and MB Luckylady Farm, Modesto, Calif.

Cerpolait Peter Sunset, a March 2017 calf from the Splendor family with a +20 GPA type rating and +3047 GPA LPI, sold for top heifer calf price of $21,200 to Rolland Pfeuti of Quebec. Consigned by Ferme Cerpolait S.E.N.C., Coaticook, Que., this L-L-M-Dairy Kingby Peter-ET daughter is from Cerpolait Doorman Summum (VG-86-2y), an 11th generation Very Good or Excellent by “Doorman” with 11,418 kg milk, 4.3% fat, 3.5% protein (247-282-273) as a yearling.
