Speculation continues about who will be the next leader of the Department of Agriculture and a Washington, DC insider says some answers could come next week. Hagstrom Report Editor-in-Chief Jerry Hagstrom says, “Wednesday they’re going to announce who is actually in charge of the transition at the Agriculture Department and then we should have more of an idea of how they will move forward.” Michael Torrey is reportedly leading that transition and Hagstrom says he has strong ties to the agriculture industry. “He once worked for Bob Dole and he once worked for the Agriculture Department,” he says. “Torrey has a variety of clients that range from the Illinois Soybean Association to big agri-business like the American Beverage Association.”
