Premier Select Sires Announces New Regional Sales Managers

Premier Select Sires welcomes two new Regional Sales Managers (RSM) to the management team, including Sean Johnson in the Central region and Kevin Lager in the Southwestern region. Each will transition into his new role in the coming weeks.

“Premier is excited to have Sean and Kevin take on leadership serving our member owners in the Central and Southwestern regions,” said Kirk Sattazahn, Vice President of Marketing and Development for Premier Select Sires. “Sean and Kevin have direct, practical experience at the farm level and both have demonstrated a tremendous ability to use their skills to help our customers achieve success.”

Sean Johnson

Sean Johnson of Rohrersville, Md. will assume the role of Central RSM for Premier Select Sires. He will assist and oversee sales and support staff in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.

Johnson has most recently served as an Area Sales Manager in Premier’s central region, serving counties in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. For the past five years, he has grown the Premier Select Sires brand in his area, working closely with support staff to better serve member-customers with Premier’s portfolio of semen, products, and programs.

Johnson holds more than 30 years of experience in the dairy industry. Before working for Premier as an Area Sales Manager, he served as an Assistant Herd Manager for Maple Dell Farm in Woodbine, Md.; a Dairy Herdsman for the Brad Garst farm in New Windsor, Md.; an independent fitter, and as the owner and operator of Mid Atlantic Hoof Care.

Johnson is a member of the National Judges List for all dairy breeds, and he serves as a volunteer with the Maryland 4-H dairy judging program. He attended the University of Maryland.

Kevin Lager

Kevin Lager of Rexford, Kan. will assume the role of Southwestern RSM for Premier Select Sires. He will assist and oversee sales and support staff in the states of Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Lager has most recently served as a Premier Select Sires Area Sales Manager in Kansas. For the past three years, he has excelled in both semen and product sales, administering and promoting Premier’s portfolio of beef and dairy solutions.

Prior to working with Premier, Lager was an Independent Sales Representative for Accelerated Genetics. He also has served as the Herdsman for his family’s dairy in Grinnell, Kan., a Dairy Field Specialist for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and an Extension Associate for Texas AgriLife Extension Service. He holds a Master of Science degree in Ruminant Nutrition, a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, and a minor in Agriculture Economics, all from Kansas State University.

Lager has volunteered his time to many agriculture and community organizations, including the Sheridan County 4-H, Kansas Farm Bureau, and the Sheridan County Library Board. Lager and his family currently reside on the family’s fifth-generation homestead and where they raise a small herd of Angus/Red Angus cows and white dorper sheep for 4-H projects. Lager also breeds and cares for breeding age heifers for his family’s dairy.

Current Central RSM Paul Knight plans to retire at the end of 2021. Current Southwestern RSM Ryan Bodenhausen recently accepted a position with the Select Sires Inc. Beef Department. Premier congratulates both Knight and Bodenhausen on these career changes and thanks them for their many contributions and years of dedicated service to the Premier Select Sires cooperative!
