Helen Klieros Papageorge passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. She was born in Seattle on June 6, 1938, to Theodore and Mary Klieros. She graduated from Lincoln High School and worked in the family grocery store until she met and married Harry Papageorge.
Helen moved to Farr West in 1964 to begin her life with Harry on Pappys Farm, where the Papageorge family developed a world-renowned Holstein herd. They had three children, Ted, Anna and Pipena.
She was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox and served as the choir director for decades. She was an active member of the Daughters of Penelope and Philoptochos Society. One of her favorite church activities was making her Finikia cookies and decorating for Ogden Greek Food Festival. She loved her church community. She also loved hosting her larger ‘Holstein’ family – anyone who visited the farm or worked with Pappys Holsteins was likely to have had a standing invite to her home and table.
Helen’s greatest joy in life was her marriage and family. Her extended family also held a big place in her heart. Most of all, she loved to spoil her grandchildren Lacey, Lexie, Landon, Kyler, and Ellie. Whatever activities her grandchildren participated in, Helen could always be seen in a front row seat cheering them on.
She is survived by her children Ted Papageorge (Debbie), Anna Mathews (Robert), Pipena Klomp (Jason) and her cousin Ted Caloger. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry and sister Pipena Mercouriadis.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 674 42nd St, South Ogden. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 6 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion at 7 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden. Internment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
