In Class III trade at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, milk futures were mixed with the nearby months supported by follow through buying and spread trade. November was up $.23 at $16.27, December was $.13 higher at $16.01, January was up $.06 at $15.84, and February was down $.01 at $15.90.
Cash cheese blocks were $.03 higher at $1.80 with one load sold. The last unfilled bid was at $1.80. Barrels were unchanged at $1.73. The last unfilled bid was on one load, also at $1.73.
Butter was $.0175 lower at $1.88. There were three loads sold, one at $1.88, one at $1.8875 and one at $1.895. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $1.87.
Nonfat dry milk was up $.025 at $.88. There were a total of five loads sold, two at $.88 and three at $.87. The last unfilled bid was on one load at $.875. The last uncovered offer was for two loads at $.88.
The Global Dairy Trade index was up 11.4% at an average of $3,327 per ton. Whole milk powder jumped 19.8% and skim milk powder was 6.5% higher. Butter and anhydrous milk fat were also up from the last auction. Butter milk powder was down 5.4%, rennet casein was 4.8% lower, and lactose was down 4.0%. The next event is scheduled for November 15th.
