The North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) wrapped up its annual show run filled with top livestock and equine competition at the Kentucky Exposition Center on November 19.
More than 16,500 animals and participants competed in the event. This world-renowned all-breed, purebred livestock expo features numerous divisions of livestock competition including Dairy Cattle, Beef Cattle, Meat Goat, Swine, Sheep, and Quarter Horse.
“We’re proud that we hosted a successful, and most of all, safe North American International Livestock Exposition. We made numerous modifications to this year’s show and we’re grateful that our exhibitors worked with us and were understanding about the new requirements,” said President and CEO of Kentucky Venues David S. Beck. “Together we were able to create a safe and healthy show that set an example of how shows can be done in today’s ever-changing environment.”
To ensure a safe and healthy event, NAILE enacted new policies to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This year’s event was a participant-only show for exhibitors and those assisting with the animals. Attendees were required to submit their name and contact information to allow for contact tracing.
Additional safety precautions included:
- Masks and facial coverings requirements;
- Schedule changes, including the cancellations of the North American Championship Rodeo; Country Store, school tours, and awards banquets;
- The Saddle and Sirloin Club portrait induction was moved to a virtual ceremony; and
- Increased hand sanitizer and handwashing stations were available throughout the property.
“I felt NAILE was safe. People were willing to make compromises and follow different sets of rules because that meant they still got to participate.” said Dairy Superintendent Kristin Paul. “I think people were very grateful to have the event, especially this year. It was great for people to have something to look forward to.”
