Two-time Master Breeder, Sunny Maple Holsteins averages $3630

It was an emotional day for the two-time Master Breeder winning Sunny Maple Holsteins herd on June 2nd as the Livingston Family dispersed their herd. The sale averaged a solid  $3630 (unofficial) on 164 head under the management of Brubacher Sales.

Topping the sale at $20,500 was Sunny Maple Gold Chip Purple (VG-88), a 3-year-old “Gold Chip” who completes eight generations of Very Good or Excellent Sunny Maple breeding. She was purchased by Beckridge Holsteins, Keswick Ont. This young cow has first lactation credits of 11,925 kg milk, 4.5% fat, 3.2% protein (244-293-239) and had been fresh again since late March. She is from a Very Good-87 “Gibson” dam and Very Good, 2-Star grandam.

The second highest seller was a 3-year-old “Aftershock” daughter, Sunny Maple Aftershock Tegan (VG-88), purchased by Jamie Ellisen, Listowel, Ont., for $10,300. Fresh again since mid-March and with a 2-year-old record of 11,355 kg milk, 4.2% fat, 3.3% protein (236-268-241), she is backed by seven direct Very Good or Excellent dams with her mother being a Very Good-87 “Lheros”.

Rounding out the top sellers was Sunny Maple Sid Killy (Ex-92), a 4-year-old “Sid” with 13,531 kg milk, 4.3% fat, 3.2% protein (247-280-243), who sold for $9000 to Bruce Johnson, London, Ont. She is from an Excellent-91-3E, 1-Star “Gibson” dam with 97,091 kg milk lifetime, followed by an Excellent-90-6E, 8-Star “Astre” with 116,434 kg milk lifetime and then five more Very Good or Excellent dams.
