Two Field Service Business Partners Join Holstein Canada

Holstein Canada is pleased to announce the hiring of two dynamic individuals to assume the roles of Field Service Business Partners. These two new team members will provide on-farm field service and support to Holstein Canada members and customers in Western and Atlantic Canada. Providing Field Service on the East Coast is Barbara Christie of Lynnfield, N.B., while Brian Nelson of Baltimore, Ont., will provide Field Services for the West.

Holstein_Canada_Barbara_Christie[1]Raised on her family’s dairy farm, Christie Farms Ltd. in New Brunswick, Barbara is still involved as an assistant farm manager and co-owner. She graduated from Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a Major in Animal Science and a Minor in Business. Barbara has been employed with RBC Royal Bank since 2004, most recently serving as a Branch Manager since 2010. With her great dairy and financial background, Barbara is a welcomed addition to the team.

Holstein_Canada_Brian_Nelson[1]Brian was raised on his family’s dairy farm in Eastern Ontario, and participated in a number of 4-H calf and dairy judging clubs where he developed an interest in dairy production and management. Brian is a graduate of the University of Guelph from which he holds a Master of Science (2010). Most recently Brian has been employed by the University of Guelph, Kemptville Campus, serving as the Program Coordinator, Agriculture since 2013, and a Senior Lecturer in Animal Science since 2010. With his extensive dairy background and passion for the production and management side of dairy farming, Brian is a great asset to the team.

“Holstein Canada is thrilled to expand our Field Service program in Atlantic and Western Canada,” says Bethany Muir, Classification and Field Services Manager. “Nothing replaces face-to-face, on-farm discussions about the value of our various core services, and to learn what other programs producers need in this quickly changing industry.”

Barbara and Brian join Holstein Canada on June 8, 2015, and bring with them great enthusiasm and strong passion for the industry along with their many professional, academic and personal accomplishments and credentials.
