The Expo Breed Sales brought top dollar during the 2015 World Dairy Expo. Buyers from around the world battled for the many world-class cattle and embryos sold in each sale. Following are the highlights from each of the six breed sales held.
Top of the World Jersey Sale, Tuesday, September 29:
The Top of the World Jersey Sale kicked-off the 2015 World Dairy Expo dairy cattle sales on Tuesday, September 29. This year’s highest selling consignment was Ratliff Action Anita, who sold for $7,400. She is sired by Forest Glen Avery Action-ET, and her dam is Ratliff Tequila Adela-ET. Anita was consigned by Ron and Christi Ratliff of Garnett, Kan. and purchased by Ellie McKissick of New Castle, Pa. Mead-Manner Tequila Pryia was the second high seller at $6,400. Pryia is sired by Tower Vue Prime Tequila-ET, and her dam is Mead-Manor Minister Pebbles. She was consigned by Mike Moede of Algoma, Wis. and purchased by Ron and Christy Ratliff of Garnett, Kan. The 2015 sale saw a total of $71,690 in sales between 23 lots with an average of $3,128. Buyers from 14 states and one country were represented in the sale.
World Ayrshire Event Sale, Wednesday, September 30:
The World Ayrshire Event Sale was held on Wednesday, September 30, with a high sale of $9,900 for Hazcroft Rockin Call Girl-ET, who sold to Steve Rowley of Foxworth, Miss. Call Girl was consigned by Rob Hazeltine of Janesville, Wis. Pick of flush – Maddie x Reality – purchased by Alexis Winkler of Woodbine, Md. for $6,200, was the second highest sale of the event. The sale was the first live online sale for U.S. Ayrshire Breeders at World Dairy Expo. There were 32 registered online bidders, 60 online bidders on 14 lots, two of which were sold online. Buyers from eight states were represented at the 2015 World Ayrshire Event Sale. The average for all 14 lots was $3,725.
World Premier Brown Swiss Sale, Thursday, October 1:
The World Premier Brown Swiss Sale had a big draw on Thursday, October 1 at World Dairy Expo. High selling lot was Top Acres HP Peppy Wyza ETV, who sold for $10,100 to Ken Main and Peter Vail of Copake, N.Y. Her consigner was Wayne E. Sliker and Hillpoint Partners of St. Paris, Ohio. The second highest sale of the evening was Blessing Mort Osborn Penny for $6,900. She was purchased by Amy and Hadleigh Jones of Glasgow, Ky., and was consigned by Caylee Nicole James of LaGrange, Ind. There were a total of 32 lots in the World Premier Brown Swiss Sale with an average of$5,400 and total sales reaching $163,625. Thirteen states and two countries were represented at the 2015 sale.
World Premier Milking Shorthorn Sale, Thursday, October 1:
The World Premier Milking Shorthorn Sale was a great success on Thursday, October 1, with 11 lots and a high sale of $8,100. Innisfail-WO C-Tie Lemnade-EXP was the high seller and sold to Bill Bartlett of Salisburg, Mass., with John Stuart Rowe and Katie Bue of Alma Center, Wis. as the consigner. Lemnade is sired by Landsbrook Mega C-Tie-EXP-ET, and her dam is Innisfail Ru Lady 6078-EXP. Second highest lot, GMC Kaiser Dartmouth-ET, went for $4,100. She was sold to Bryn Quicks of Campbell Hill, Ill. The consigner was Lindsay Clark of GMC Farm in Cornish Flat, N.H. Dartmouth is sired by Ecuafarm Peris Kaiser, and her dam is Clayside Dairybell oth Desiree. There were 11 total lots with an average sale of $3,578. Buyers came from five states at the 2015 World Premier Milking Shorthorn Sale.
International Guernsey Classic Sale, Friday, October 2:
The International Guernsey Classic was held Friday, October 2. With 25 lots, the high-seller, Four Winds DC Cupid-ET, sold for $6,500. Her sire is Mar Ral Royal Mentor, and her dam is Four Winds Destiny Child. Cupid was purchased by Bill and Linda Blue of Circleville, Ohio, and consigned by Clark and Joy Vilter of Hartland, Wis. The first choice female out of Prairie Moon YB Antebella was the second highest sale at $6,100. She was purchased by John Fudge of Gamaliel, Ky., and consigned by Leslie and Landon Sivesind of Waukoa, Iowa. Buyers from 15 states participated in the sale. The average sale of $3,638, along with the average embryo sale of $551 per embryo, brought the total sales to $90,950.
World Classic ’15 Holstein Sale, Friday, October 2:
Friday evening marked the close of the World Dairy Expo cattle sales with the World Classic ’15 Holstein Sale. A high price was commended for Gil-Gar Sshot Faith-ET at $117,000, the highest sale of the night. Faith was purchased by Triple Crown Genetics & Abe Light of Jerome, Ind. She was consigned by Stelling Farms, Inc of Millville, Minn. Faith is sired by Cogent Supershot, and her dam is Gil-Gar Mogul Frugil. At $100,000, the price was right for Peak Lach Sshot 1217-ET, making her the second highest sale of the night. She was purchased by Seagull Bay Holsteins of Burley, Idaho., and consigned by Peak Genetics of Watertown, Wis. Buyers from 12 states, three Canadian provinces, and three countries bid on 47 of the breed’s finest with an average sale of $27,757.
