Holstein UK have put forward 15 animals to represent the UK at the European Holstein and Red Holstein Championships in France, 17th – 18th June 2016.
The championship will play an important role in the promotion of the UK Holstein in Europe and worldwide. The event will enable the designated UK breeders to showcase, and be recognised for, their animals internationally.
The elite team was hand-picked by former Holstein UK Classifier John Gribbon, Holstein UK Classifier Lynden Bustard and Holstein UK Trustee Carl Smith.
Principal sponsors of the inaugural Holstein UK venture are For Farmers, with Sterling Sires clinching the associate sponsorship.
The European Championship is the most prestigious Holstein breed competition which happens every three years in one of the participating countries. 2016 will see the event take place in Colmar, located in the heart of the Alsace region, France with 14 countries and 179 cows currently confirmed as attending the event.
After travelling over 1,550 miles within the UK to decide between a tough collection of outstanding Holsteins to represent the UK, the selection team agreed on the following animals:
