Following the December 2017 sire summary rankings, Select Sires continues to have the largest and most elite offering of genomic young sires in the industry. Fertility without Compromise
Without a pregnancy, elite genetics have no impact. Select Sires continues to emphasize the value of highly fertile semen so that customer-owners can reap the benefits. The December 2017 lineup offers 63 genetically elite young sires that have Sire Conception Rates (SCR) at or above +2.0. Among this grouping of sires, are 7HO12600 MODESTY (+2827 GTPI, +2.4 SCR), 7HO13624 SUPREME (+2824 GTPI, +3.8 SCR), 7HO13250 JEDI (+2810 GTPI, +2.4 SCR) and FRAZZLED (+2797 GTPI, +2.0 SCR).
Wellness leaders
Select Sires has designated the highest Wellness Trait Index™ (WT$™) sires as WellnessPRO™ sires. This index focuses on six wellness traits (mastitis, lameness, metritis, retained placenta, displaced abomasum and ketosis) and includes an economic value for Polled test results. 7HO12556 PAGEONE ranks very well in the industry for WT$ at +319.
Dairy Wellness Profit Index™ (DWP$™) is an industry-wide index that combines production, fertility, type, longevity and wellness traits. Fifty-four of the industry’s top 100 DWP$ sires are offered through Select Sires’ lineup. Highlights from this lineup include 7HO13715 RAPTOR (+1,253 DWP$), 7HO13737 EINSTEIN (+1,243 DWP$), 7HO14046 TOTALLY (+1,227 DWP$), 7HO13866 RIO (+1,222) and FRAZZLED (+1,222).
Fitness highlights
7HO13559 SNAZZY is the breed’s No. 1 ranked sire for Productive Life at +12.7 and is tied at No. 2 for Daughter Pregnancy Rate (DPR) at +7.1. 7HO12979 JOLOKIA ties with SNAZZY for DPR (+7.1) and ranks No. 3 for Cow Conception Rate (+8.3). Both SNAZZY and JOLOKIA are 7HO12533 HOTSHOT sons.
Type sires standout
Showcase Selections™ sires are among the top Type sires on the active genomic listing. 7HO13730 UNDENIED ranks third in the breed at +4.19 PTAT. Also holding top spots for Type are 7HO12922 DELIGHT at +4.18, 250HO12961 DOC at +4.01, 7HO13839 TATOO at +3.98, 250HO12589 JACOBY at +3.90 and 7HO12921 WILSON at +3.87.
