River Valley Farm and Select Sires Announce 7JE5000 Stud Code Series

ssrToday, River Valley Farm announced Select Sires Inc. as its exclusive partner in the collection and distribution of sires under a new 7JE5000 stud code series. The announcement concludes a multi-year search for an A.I. collaborator by the Jersey farm.

The partnership builds on years of a strong working relationship between the two organizations. In addition, it brings together the proven consistency and technology of the market-leading A.I. organization, Select Sires, with the deep genetic resources of River Valley Farm.

“Select Sires’ commitment to providing customers with the most advanced and highly fertile product on the market was one of the major factors in our decision,” said David Jordan, general manager of River Valley Farm. “We looked at every major A.I. organization in North America and after evaluating the strengths of everything from investments in research, technology capabilities, approach to business innovation, field force service and expertise, as well as marketshare, Select Sires soared to the top of our list.”

Producers can expect to find a unique lineup of sires from deep-pedigreed cow families that will have an impact on the future of the Jersey breed in the 7JE5000 series.

“This partnership is an ideal fit for both organizations because of our shared appreciation for quality genetics that will deliver customer satisfaction results,” said Herby Lutz, sire analyst at Select Sires. “Nowhere else in the world can you find the extensive group of quality-pedigreed and diverse, purebred females that are at River Valley Farm. The genetics at the farm are second to none.”

The first bulls to carry the new 7JE5000 stud code will be available for producers in the U.S. in July 2014.

“The joint River Valley Farm and Select Sires program will include the sampling of approximately 20 high-caliber young sires each year,” added Lutz. “This will be comprised of high genomic young sires and also several high-type sons from the show-winning cows of River Valley Farm.”

Global demand for quality Jersey genetics is at a record high. Through the 7JE5000 collaboration, Select Sires will have the largest Jersey sampling program in the world and continue to lead the Jersey Revolution™.

“We are committed to providing dairy producers around the globe with genetics they can trust from cow families they can truly respect,” said Jordan. “The bulls that enter our program will be from cows we believe in. And, we’ll be using those sires in our own 300-cow commercial operation.”
