Reese Burdette and ‘Pantene’ Top Open Holstein Show


Reese Burdette and her cow Pantene swept Senior Champion, Grand Champion and Best Bred and Owned Holstein of the All-American Holstein Show, held Thursday, Sept. 22, during the 2016 All-American Dairy Show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

The Burdettes of Windy Knoll View Farm, Mercersburg, Franklin County, also received Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor honors. Reese has become famous for battling life-threatening injuries sustained in a house fire in May 2014, gaining national support from across the agriculture industry. She finally returned home from Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., to a hero’s welcome in March 2016.

Her return to the All-American was equally welcomed, and included time in the showring at the halter of her beloved 4-year-old Windy Knoll View Pantene.

Reserve Grand Champion Holstein went to the Reserve Senior Champion, Mor-Yet Goldwayn Faithful ET exhibited by Chase Savage from Union Bridge, Md.

Eric Topp, Topp View Farms, Wapakoneta, Ohio, had the privilege of judging the Open Holstein Show.

“When the four year old cow walked in the ring, she tripped my trigger,” Topp said of Reese’s champion.
