One of the greatest brood cows in the world laid to rest

Kamps-Hollow Altitude-ET (EX95 2E DOM) was laid to rest at her home in Belmont, WI. Altitude was owned by the partnership of Ryan Weigel and Ryan Kamps. As one of the most recognized Durham daughters in the breed, Altitude has left a tremendous impact on the breed that will continue on through the generations and generations of Altitude offspring. She is the dam of legendary Red Holsteins, KHW Kit Advent-Red and KHW Regiment Apple-Red-ET (EX-96). She is one of the greatest brood cows in the history of the Holstein Breed (http://www.thebullvine.com/the-bullvine/7-influential-holstein-brood-cows-modern-era/)

Her owners share the following:

Earlier today we said goodbye to the Matriarch of KHW Genetics: Kamps-Hollow Altitude-ET. She has been a part of our lives for 15 great years.
Altitude is a cow that will forever be in the history books of the Holstein Breed. Her influence has been felt around the World and she far exceeded our expectations. She was our “Once in a Lifetime” cow, but the neat thing about her is the numerous “Once in a Lifetime” cows she’s had a part in creating for others.
Altitude spent most of her life at Kamps-Hollow Genetics in Belmont, WI. She also had a couple of extended stays at TransOva Genetics and Dykshorn Holsteins in IA. We thank them for the support and daily care they have given Altitude throughout the years.
Today’s a very sad day for KHW, but the amount of joy this cow has brought our families far outweighs the heartache we are currently feeling. Altitude will be missed by all that had the chance to work with her.

People from throughout the country have expressed their thoughts on this “once in a lifetime” cow on the KHW Facebook page. You can read them here.
