Lancaster County Teen Earns Nesbitt Scholarship

Madison Weaver of Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pa., was recognized for her outstanding achievements and involvement in the All-American Dairy Show with the Arthur W. Nesbitt Scholarship.

Weaver, 19, is a sophomore at Penn State University’s Berks Campus majoring in animal science with a focus on animal nutrition. She is the daughter of Fred and Tammy Weaver and was raised on a 140-acre dairy farm where her family milked 30 registered Holsteins, Brown Swiss and Jerseys. She has exhibited at the All-American Dairy Show for each of the last nine years, competing in the open and Premier National Junior Shows. She is a regular competitor in the Youth Showmanship Contest.

After graduating, Weaver plans to attend a graduate program at Iowa State University before becoming an animal nutritionist and helping farmers optimize their dairy herds.

Arthur W. Nesbitt, better known as Art, is the honorary chairman of the All-American Dairy Foundation. A Pennsylvania native, he is the former president and CEO of Nasco International. He has been recognized by Penn State as Alumni Fellow and Distinguished Alumnus; and he is a past Penn State Trustee. He also established a Penn State endowment to recognize outstanding faculty in the animal science and food science departments. Nesbitt and his wife Nancy reside in Fort Atkinson, Wis.

The All-American Dairy Foundation is an educational charity with a mission to enhance the educational and training opportunities presented to youth interested in the dairy industry during the All-American Dairy Show and encourage further education through post-secondary scholarship.
